I was reminded yesterday morning of how God must feel when his beloved children praise him. I got to sit next to my 6 year old during worship at our church and during one song she was singing Hosanna, Hosanna over and over and it almost brought tears to my eyes. I was taken immediately to the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem and how the people there greeted our Lord. “Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.” Hosanna meaning God saves. As she gets older and is able to read and follow along in our worship service I am beginning to understand love better. There is the falling in love that we all go through in our adolescence but this is deeper. This is not just philo (brotherly) but it’s more like agape love. I don’t know how to explain it but I know that God gets that warm feeling inside when he hears us praise his name and sing or shout “Hosanna!” because he is the God who saves.
