Happy Father's Day ~ 2013
Walk With Me, Daddy

Walk alongside me, Daddy
and hold my Little hand
I have so many things to Learn
that I don't yet understand

Teach me things to keep me safe
from dangers every day.
Show me ho to do my best
at home, at school, at Play

Every child needs a gentle hand
to guide them as they grow.
So walk alongside me, Daddy.
We have a Long way to go

Like Father, Like Son
Aaron has been big into mountain bike riding
and has really gotten into it.  We bought mountain
bikes a few years ago and he has been trying
to get me to ride with him.  I would love to learn and
went once, but about fell down off the mountain.  So
after he gave up on me, he was determined to get Owen
a mountain bike and take him out.  So finally this past
Saturday he took him on his first ride.  He was so
excited to go.  He came back with bright red cheeks as
it was pretty hot out and Aaron said they had to stop
every couple minutes to take a drink and give his
little legs a rest.  He loved it though and hopefully
will be many more times to come!
Owen's Last Day of School!

Owen and Mrs. Hammel
Kindergarten 2012-2013
I can not believe he is done
with Kindergarten and he will
be in first grade!  He had a great
year.  Learned a lot, grew a lot,
and matured.  He did great with
his sight words and learning to read.
The teacher thought of something
for every child in her class and
Owen got "Best Sense of Humor."
Proud of this little boy and so
excited for him and his next
adventure being a BIG first grader!
Our BEST friends ~ Come to stay with us!
Owen, Levi, Olivia, Claire and Jayne.
Chad and Bridgette went to New Orleans for 5 days
and we were blessed to have watched her kids!
We had a great time and the kids played so well.
I would be lying to say it wasn't crazy at times with
5 kids, but overall I didn't feel overwhelmed and
we managed to get alone quite well!
On Thursday we met Darcie and the kids and went to
the zoo.  It was a little warm out, but the kids had fun.
We got to see the Dinosaurs throughout the zoo
and the Butterfly exhibit.

We spent 2 days swimming so we always needed to
clean up with baths.  The girls loved the tub and playing.
The boys wanted to end their stay with a sleep out!
They thought this was a GREAT idea and were so
excited.  We grilled out for dinner and made a fire
and did smores and then off the boys went to bed.
They lasted till about 3:30 in the morning
when they decided it was too cold out.
They had fun though and proud of them for
trying it.  The kids minus Jayne were probably up
by 6 or 6:30 every morning.  Crazy kids.  Don't
they now it is summer and they are suppose to sleep
in!

What a great and fun week with our best of friends.
Olivia was so cute because after church on Sunday
she started to cry because Claire had went home
and she was so sad to not have a permanent playmate
to have to play with.  Love these kids and the
friendships they have!!
Grandpa and Grandma Histand's Visit ~May 2013
Owen's Music Program at School.
The kids were given an option to participate
in the music program at school and Owen
really wanted to.  They had to memorize a line to
say during the program.  Of course we missed it
because we were in the Netherlands but
Grandpa and Grandma got to see it and took
a few pictures for us!
Our handsome little man!

Olivia and grandpa playing kitchen.  Looks
like grandpa was a good sport and played right
along with Olivia and I am sure she
was loving it.  Grandpa Histand
is the one who build Olivia her kitchen
and she loves it and has spent many
hours playing in her kitchen.

Owen helping grandma make pancakes.  The kids are
always eager to jump in and help.  I guess the story
goes that she left him dump in the chocolate chips,
well turns out they were butterscotch chips instead!
Guess they decided they were actually pretty good!
"Flubber"
Grandpa and Grandma brought lots of fun
things along for the kids to do while they
were here.  The flubber was a big hit
and they played with it for hours and
have played with it a lot since they have
left too.  It is pretty fun stuff!  Love the texture!

Making clay creatures!
Paying close attention to the mixing process
Working very hard on the details
Focusing very hard
Not sure how Olivia got away with not wearing
a shirt, but......

The END product!
Creative and Cleaver!

Outside blowing bubbles.
It sounds like they spent a lot of time outside
during various activities!

SEVENS!
This is a new card game grandpa taught Owen and he
loved playing.  Sounds like they could spent at least an hour
a night playing.  Now EVERY night Owen wants
to play SEVENS!  He is pretty good at it and would
play for hours!  Thanks grandpa!

What a GREAT week and they with their grandparents
and how fortunate we were to be able to go on our
trip and know our kids were being taken such
good care of!  Thanks for coming over and
watching the kids!  We appreciate all you did!!
