From My Closet To You
〜Narrative essays, weaving fashion and heart〜
1.Reflecting on Fashion
Fashion is a way of expressing who I am, and it is something I truly cherish. What to wear, how to style each piece, what kind of impression to create―the time spent thinking about them is filled with joy. Yet, there are moments that feel like fighting a losing battle, full of struggle. Choosing clothes means facing endless permutations, and sometimes I am left standing still, unable to find the One True Answer. That is why I keep considering fashion in so many ways. In this series, I reflect on each one and weave it into words.
2. Beyond the Visible
“Fashion is something to be seen, not expressed in words”—an impression often shared. I too view it as primarily visual. And yet the act of “seeing” lasts only a fleeting moment—might it, in the end, slip into mere “consumption”? Because I truly cherish it, a quiet conflict stirs within me. Of course, there probably is not One True Answer to this question. But the feelings and intentions behind choosing clothes, the ingenuity of our styling, and the daily stories they illuminate―cannot easily be told by seeing alone.
3. Weaving Words and Perspective
In this space, I weave not only the fun of seeing fashion, but also the heart within it. Sometimes I touch on the theoretical, sometimes I craft stories from past memories. All of these are tied to my own thoughts and values. However, the way things are perceived changes depending on when and from whose perspective they are seen. Because each of us holds something different in our hearts, there can be no One True Answer. I will strive to keep that in mind at all times, and weave it into words.
4. Let Words Hold Compassion
There are invisible things that everyone carries inside. To give them form and join heart to heart—that is what “words” do. Likewise, words can also be the blade that severs the bonds between hearts. They are strong enough to hold such opposing forces―I want to use this strength to brighten and support another’s heart. It is my aspiration, and my own One True Answer. By weaving the visual world of fashion I cherish into words―at that moment, I believe compassion is born, able to gently hold the heart.
5. From Here to You
Here, I weave with trust in the strength of words. Even if this is not your One True Answer, I would be grateful if it could reach you as a small spark of awareness, or a start. With that hope, my thoughts turn outward. What kind of day awaits you today or tomorrow, as you open the door and step forward? What do you feel when you choose your clothes, when you stand before the mirror? On days when your heart feels light, and on days when your heart is heavy with tears, may that attire let you glow. —A small gift for you, from my closet—
