Bangkok opens new park aerobics stage to promote health

BANGKOK — 7 April 2026, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has inaugurated a new aerobics stage at Lumphini Park, aimed at expanding public access to exercise spaces and encouraging healthier lifestyles.

The stage was donated by food delivery platform LINE MAN in collaboration with “Dada”, Miss Grand Kalasin, who also led the aerobics session during the opening event at 18:00.

The atmosphere was lively, with participants of all ages joining the activity, many dressed in colourful outfits that added vibrancy to the park.S 434987076

One highlight was a group wearing traditional Thai costumes while exercising. The participants, who said they are regular runners, noted that their previous appearance in such attire had gone viral online. They said the idea was intended to promote Thai “soft power” and showcase cultural identity to international audiences.

Despite the elaborate costumes, they said the outfits did not hinder their ability to exercise.

A large number of young people also arrived early to secure spots close to the stage, saying visibility of the instructor was important. Many travelled via the MRT, which provides convenient access to the park.

Dada said she did not expect her participation to attract such attention, adding that she enjoys exercise and was pleased to see strong turnout.

“I’m happy to lead the session and see so many people taking part. It’s good that people are turning to exercise and taking care of their health,” she said.

Authorities said crowd management has improved following earlier concerns that aerobics activities were encroaching on running paths. Security personnel were deployed to ensure the exercise area did not obstruct runners.

Chadchart said the city would continue to support accessible exercise spaces and plans to expand similar aerobics stages to other communities to improve residents’ quality of life.
