British Woman, 75, Killed in Thailand Car Accident; Husband Grieves

Paramedics examine the body of a 75-year-old British woman who was killed instantly when she was struck by a vehicle on Bang Kruai–Sai Noi Road in Nonthaburi on Dec. 3, 2025.

NONTHABURI — A 75-year-old British woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing a road in Nonthaburi province on Wednesday, police said, leaving her husband devastated just weeks before the couple had planned to celebrate Christmas together.

Police in Sai Noi district said they were alerted around 1 p.m. to a fatal collision on Bang Kruai–Sai Noi Road, near Sai Noi Hospital. Officers and rescue workers arrived to find the body of Suzanne G., who lived nearby, lying on the road with severe head and neck injuries.

The driver, Jarunan, 40, an online vendor, remained at the scene in shock. She told police she had made a U-turn when she saw the British woman running across the road toward a traffic island. Godwin suddenly stopped, Jarunan said, leaving her no time to brake before the vehicle struck the victim.

“I feel terrible that she had to lose her life. If she had only been injured, she could have recovered,” Jarunan told officers.

Police took Jarunan to Sai Noi Police Station for questioning and later charged her with reckless driving causing death.

Suzanne’s husband, David, arrived at the station later in deep grief, keeping his head down as officers took his statement.

Somsak Duangsano, deputy mayor of Sai Noi subdistrict, provides information to police alongside David, the British husband who lost his wife in the road accident in Nonthaburi on Dec. 3, 2025.

Somsak Duangsano, deputy mayor of Sai Noi subdistrict, said he knew the British couple well because they frequently joined local residents to support the Nonthaburi football team. The pair retired to Thailand eight years ago and had lived in the Sai Noi area for the past five years, cycling around their neighborhood each morning and greeting neighbors.

“A few days ago, they told me they had booked a place in Pattaya to celebrate Christmas together,” Somsak said. “I never imagined something like this would happen. I’m ready to help arrange a Thai Buddhist ceremony for Mrs. Suzanne.”

He added that David was overcome with sorrow but expressed no anger toward the driver, telling him that “no matter how much he blamed her, his wife would not come back.”
