Grandpa Behling

Glen J. Behling
April 1919-Sept 2007

My cute little Grandpa B. passed away this morning in his home. He was going to do his home teaching but stopped in the living room to light a fire for grandma and had a heart attack while he was turning on the gas and was gone.

I have many memories of Grandpa B! I was actually the one that made him a grandpa to begin with so I feel very fortunate to have known him the longest!!

Too many things to write about in a blog but my most special memories are that he gave me my patriarchal blessing and he married Steve and I. I feel very blessed for having had such a great grandpa!

Time Out!

Saturday was a great day!!
I know, it's the day you get ready for Sunday but I took a "Mommy Time Out". Got up early (for a Saturday), wore something other than my "Mommy Uniform" (jeans/shorts and t-shirts), grabbed several of my girlfriends and headed to downtown Boise, along with 3000 other LDS women to attend the annual Time Out for Women.
It was a great day! The speakers were fabulous and even though deep down you know everything they are saying it's nice to just have it reaffirmed. It gives you the boost you need or the refill of your bucket to make it through the humdrums of life.

Jane Clayson Johnson was one of the speakers. I guess I've always loved her. I've watched her go from reporting for KSL in Salt Lake to hosting the Early Show (the only time I ever defected from the Today Show). Now she is a stay at home mom. The entire gist of her talk is to be happy with the "shoes" we have on now and we're not just moms we're MOTHERS.

Sheri Dew was the concluding speaker and how do you go wrong with Sister Dew? She is amazing and always does such a good of telling it like it is and putting this life and what we are all about into perspective.

The other speakers were amazing as well but those were my favorite. Kenneth Cope also performed several times during the day which was amazing!!
Overall it was a great day!
Thanks to my hubby who willingly played Mr. Mom and took care of the girls!

Millions of Peaches

Since we've moved to Idaho it has become a tradition to go to the orchards the week after Labor Day to get our cases of peaches! My friend Julie and I take the younger kids and make the pilgrimage. It's a little drive but it's beautiful country. It's nice to see that some farm land has still been preserved!

We loaded them up in Julie's car and Alyssa thought it was way cool that they could put on headphones and watch a movie on the trip!
So much good food to eat!!! We got peaches, pears, apples, and corn on the cob! That's good eatin'!!!
Alyssa loves to play on the little wooden truck while I load the peaches into the car!
She's a big helper and pretty cute!!!
Alyssa and I in front of the apple trees that are just loaded with fruit. It reminds me of my childhood living amongst all the apple orchards.

Monday afternoon and evening we did 21 quarts of peaches. It's a pain and it makes a mess of the kitchen but the bottles are pretty when they are done and they always taste so good!!!
There is nothing better than a fresh peach but bottled ones come in a close second!

Soap Operas and Bon Bons

Well the kids are back in school full time and we're finally getting into the groove of things again around the house. I think I've finally caught up on all the Soap Operas and eaten myself into a state of happiness now that things are calm around my house!!! If only, right?!!!!!!
I have to laugh at those that think a stay at home mom's life is really that peaceful!! Not that I'm complaining but I don't think I've watched a grown up show for quite awhile but I could brief you on anything on PBS or Nick Jr!!!

The girls are doing great in school and seem to enjoying their teachers. Although Meggers is not so hip on the homework! Lyssa is getting into the grove of being an "only child" for a few hours. Steve calls her my clone!

Since the weather is cooling down we have been walking to school in the morning which is fun for all of us!

Over Labor Day we got to spend some time with Brent and Ashley who stopped for the night on their way home from Jayson's blessing in Utah. It's been a very long time since we have seen them. We had a nice visit and tried to talk them into staying longer but they wanted to be in their own home and their own bed, which I can understand!! They played with the girls and we stayed up much to late visiting and laughing!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

On Monday afternoon my friend Cherie volunteered to take the girls so Steve and I could have a date! She is a good woman....in fact Alyssa didn't even cry when I left which is a miracle!! The girls had a great time! Who wouldn't have? They went shopping, painted nails and watched High School Musical 2! So, Thank You Cherie!

Steve and I were going to go bowling but we spent the afternoon looking at model homes which was really fun! We got some ice cream from Cold Stone and enjoyed being a couple!
It was a good weekend!

We'll get back into the groove of blogging!!!
