We've been back in the swing of things for awhile now!
All the girls are doing GREAT!
Last week I was out checking the mail and Emmy came walking up the driveway holding a baby. I knew she was bringing home a baby for her Home Ec (FACTS) class. It still makes you do a double take! So far she has been one of the only girls to not abuse her baby! We are all grateful it didn't scream half the night!!
Meghan LOVES her science teacher! He is not your typical teacher...he makes up notes to pop music has dance steps to vocabulary words and makes the kids dress up for their science test today. Meghan is the earth's core...therefore she is red hot (the flames around the bottom) made of nickel, solid and I can't remember what the 33% represents. It's a great way to get the kids involved and make them love science!!
Lyssa has been rockin' the spelling tests! She has gotten every word right and then all 3 of her bonus words right every week! She is having a problem with getting her lower case D and B's mixed up. Her teacher has taken note of that and has not marked them wrong. If anyone has any great hints to help I'm happy to listen...we've tried many different ideas...nothing is sticking so far!!!
Other happenings: Emmy tried out for the spring musicale Beauty and the Beast and is a towns person with a solo line. Meg tried out and made the news crew for daily announcements. She is the Monday anchorwoman.

MMS Olympics
The Middle School Olympics were this past week. It's such a fun week for the kids!!! Each grade is divided into 2 pods A & B, each pod in each grade is assigned a country. Meghan's pod was Mexico and the other pod was Australia. 7th grade was Japan and Kenya, 8th grade was Italy and Spain.
They begin the week with opening ceremonies and have the parade of nations, each carrying their appropriate flag and the Atlanta Olympic Flag. They light their cauldron and have an inspirational speaker and the kids learn the rules of the games.
As the week progresses every grade has a field and academic events day with the closing ceremonies on Friday.
Wednesday was Meg's field events and academic events. She was excited and ready to go. Following her older sister's example you decorate the back of your shirt!!
Friday during the closing ceremonies they have a cheerleading competition and a teacher egg toss to add to the scores. Meg was chosen to be on the cheer squad and went to school and hour early every morning to practice. Their team was awesome...enjoy some pictures!!!
Their team won the cheer competition....good job girls!!! Mexico also won the field and academic events...way to go 6th grade!!!
It's quite an event...one the kids look forward to every year!!!

Please Help!
Our son has lately been adding a lot of southern drawl to his speaking...what is going on?
Yes, I know we live in Georgia but there aren't many thick, southern, accents here. If he was hanging out with people with accents I could understand it but he's not.
Where is it coming from?!!!
Here he is saying "I want some M&M's"...
At least he is stinkin' cute!!!

9-11 Remembered
10 years later...
The Kiwanis club put up a flag for each life that was lost on 9-11 on Kennesaw Battle Field. It was a sobering sight for sure.
We were able to teach the kids about what happened and renew our patriotism.

The Game
Steve and I got tickets to the game as our anniversary present(s) to each other this year. It would have been great to take the kids with us but tickets were not cheap so we got them plenty of junk food, some pizza and some instructions to go to bed long before we got home!! (The game started at 8 pm Atlanta time).
We decided to take MARTA (the subway) into downtown to avoid having to find a place to park. There were several things going on besides the game. We parked and went down to the platform to wait for the train. I now know what it means to stand alone...to be an individual...we were the lone blue in a sea of red. But we wore it proudly!!! At the next stop a few Boise people joined us but we were very much in the minority! A few Georgia fans talked to us and asked us a lot about Boise.
We arrived at the stadium and sat outside for a few minutes people watching. We had a few obnoxious fans say derogatory things like "Boise Sucks" and "Kill the Smurfs" but again it was easy to ignore them. We have learned that it is a Georgia tradition for the UGA girls to dress up. They wore black and red dresses and heels...it looked like they were going to a cocktail party!!! As we sat outside we were watching this group try to spell out Go Georgia but it took them about 20 minutes to figure it out...I'm sorry but it was hysterical to watch!
We got into the stadium and found our seats...right beside the tunnel where the Broncos run out, right in the Bronco in-zone. It was impressive how much Blue there was being in Georgia but it seemed like a pin point compared to the red.
Coach Pete went around during their warm ups patting them on the back and talking to all the players. He was smiling and having fun with the team.

Our boy Kellen!!
The front row was all the dressed up Boise fans...the Pimps, Elvis, Bronco Libre and the painted face guys!
Boise's 1st Touchdown...Go Broncos!
We learned that this stadium is LOUD...we yelled at the top of our lungs and couldn't hear ourselves. The group around us was so fun. We high fived and cheered, chanted and stood up the entire game!!!
There was a Georgia girl behind us that had such a shrill voice I thought I would never again hear the same but due to some smarting off to security she was escorted out. I cant' say I was sad to see her go. The other fans that replaced her were really cool.
The end of the game. Georgia fans had started clearing out during the 4th quarter and the Boise fans started moving down!
I think at the end that the blue really did outnumber the red!!!
The final score!
The Bronco storm trooper. I huge sci fi convention called Dragon Con was also going on in downtown this weekend and this guy decided to cover both with one costume!!
We had a GREAT time and it didn't hurt that we won either!!! It was fun to be with so many Boise people, they are great fans! We were impressed with the Georgia fans, there were several drunks that were rude and obnoxious but most were great. Steve was on the isle and as the fans would pass they would stop and man hug or shake his hand and say good game Boise or some other positive comment. The guy behind us talked to us for awhile and said that Boise deserves to play for the nation championship if we run the tables this year. Our walk to the subway was a lot of the same...really nice fans that congratulated us on our win. A guy at the train station said "Nice game, my only consolation is that I'll be home in my bed in about 30 minutes and you have a long way to go" I couldn't resist...I said, " We live in Kennesaw" to which her replied "You're killin' me" Sorry Georgia!!! When we got back to our car someone had stolen our BSU magnet off of the back....rude.
We arrived home about 2 am crawled into bed and were out cold. It was hard to get up for meetings Sunday morning!!!

It's Here
The day that we have been looking forward to since December 22, 2010! College Football is underway and Boise State is coming to town!! Whew Hew!!! We are just a little bit excited...if you can't tell!!!
With all the excitement here it makes us think back to July when we were in Boise!
We left Ashton Tuesday morning. It's always hard to leave. It was raining and it matched the kids tears.
Soon we were underway and heading 'home'. As we entered Boise the kids were saying, "Next we'll pass the big water tower that is red and white by the outlets" "Then we'll come to the Boise State exit" "Oh, here comes the temple". It had been 2 years since we left but they still remembered. Even Alyssa screamed as we went under the overpass. (Steve would always do that and make the kids giggle...since he wasn't with us they did it for him).
We made it to Bakow's and it was a joyous reunion!!! At least for most of us it was joyous...
Eli latched onto Trent and they were good buddies!! Everyone seemed to pick up just where we left off! The kids bid a farewell to the swing-set in the Bakow's backyard. It was a fond farewell with many good memories of time spent playing!
Alyssa was able to spend time with her cute friend Emma and Cherie took Meg and Trent to the waterpark where they all had a good time!
We got to see our friends the Miner's for just a brief moment as they were getting ready for Trek. Lilly and Eli had a ball together!
There was a lot of laughter and fun while we were together.
I love these gals and it's always fun to be with them no matter how long or where!!!
It was a short trip but it was fun to back in Boise.
Emmy is absent from all the pictures because she was with her best friend Linnae having the time of her life! She was able to spend a week there and Cherie brought her to Utah when she came to go to the temple with Jen Lee...but that is another blog!

We went to Kripsy Kreme one night as a special treat. The kids were so excited...they have Kripsy Kreme in Georgia, it's not very close!
