Thanksgiving Highlights

We were pretty low key while Brent and Ashley were here...with all the sick kids we just hung out at home. Which was fine by all of us!  It was nice to sit and visit and play and eat really good food!!!

Early in the week Ashley and I headed to Hobby Lobby and found some material to make curtains for the sidelight windows next to my front door.  I felt like I was living in a fish tank. I didn't want sheer white and heavy material looks strange in those windows so Ashley found a sheer, black material that was perfect! It matched the shelf and bench in my entry way.
Brent helped too!! He put up all the hardware and took down the previous owners hardware that they had put up on wet paint!  It took him a few minutes to get them off but he was victorious!
The finished project!  It looks great!
Lots of hanging out and playing the Wii...

I think Eli beat Brent is sword play...oh ya..he's an animal!!!
Anytime is a good time to sack Uncle Brent
or do his hair!
Emmy and Ashley made cute turkeys for our Thanksgiving Table

The cooking went well. Brent is great to have around, he loves to cook and I didn't mind the help!
Let's Eat!
Preparations began for BLACK FRIDAY
Can you believe it is 3:30 AM?
We had a great time!!!  It's fun to be with other people, I'd never do it by myself!
Meghan, well being her silly self!
We had it all mapped out, we went to JCPenney's, Sears, Target and Kohl's.  When we came out of Kohl's we noticed the back tire was flat. Okay,we'll just put on the spare and go home, home is just a couple of miles away. We were looking in the book to find where the spare is, and a man who brilliantly was waiting for his wife in the parking lot (instead of waiting in long lines)came to offer assistance. So we let him!!!  We put the donut on and thought we'd be off...nope...the donut was even flatter than the original tire.

I then called Steve. (It was 8:30 by this time, it wasn't super early)  He came and got the original tire and went to see if he could get it fixed so we headed back to the store.  The tire places he took it said it couldn't be repaired so we all crammed in the mini and came home.  We remembered the tires were new and still under warranty so Brent and Steve took it to Sears and they fixed/replaced it.  Steve thinks it was all a ploy to get him to the mall on Black Friday.  TeeHeeHee!!
Brent made yummy homemade pizza on Friday....super yum!!

We are Thankful for our wonderful family and friends and for our great kids.

Brent & Ashley Here

Brent and Ashely arrived last Saturday.  They got to Atlanta in beautiful 70 degree weather, it's been wonderful!!!   After picking them up we stopped at Ikea for a quick look around, and we know Ashely loves Ikea!!!
Those silly people!!!  We had fun looking around and then we came home.

Sunday morning dawned and Alyssa woke up with a high fever and headache...the next day Meg did too.  The following day we paid a visit to the dr. and sure enough, strep throat.  So we've been kind of laying low but we're having a great time visiting and enjoying space in which to all be!!!

Meghan and Alyssa are....

Mad Scientists
Last night their school 's PTSA hosted a hands on science night. Steve, having always wanted to be a mad scientist, took the girls. They had a GREAT time!  They made balloons make sounds, they made slime and snow.  They also played with bubbles and loved every minute of it!

 Terrific Kids
We know that they are terrific kids but it's nice that the school recognized that as well!!  They were both chosen in their grades to be the Terrific Kid for the month of November.  The quality that they focused on was citizenship.  They are both GReAt!!!  Congrats Girls!!!

It's been a busy week at the school.  Tuesday and Wednesday was Grandparents and Special Friends day at school.  Since all of our grandparents and special friends live too far away I was it!! I went and had lunch with the girls and we all know that where I go...Eli goes!! He was thrilled to pack a lunch and go to school to eat with the girls!!

Dreamland Confessions

We had a little insight into Eli's mind the other night!
He woke up really upset about something.  I went in to try to figure out what the problem was.  Finally he started talking coherently and this is what I heard.  "I wanna go to Lowe's, I wanna go to Lowe's".
So if there was any doubt if he is a real boy...wonder no more!  He wants to go to Lowe's!!!  (apparently his new favorite store, his dad was very proud!)

Meghan's Honor Chorus

Our school district does an awesome thing for some of the 5th graders.  They have an honor chorus that spends the entire day with a PhD of music that they fly in from somewhere and teaches them music theory and how to perform and then that evening they put on a performance.
Each school is allowed to bring only 8 students so there are try outs and Meghan made it. They had several individual practices at the school so they would become familiar with the music they would be performing.
Last week I took her to this HUGE church where they spent the days. (Churches are HUGE in the South!)
We came back at 6 pm to hear the performance.  It was so good...I was amazed at how good 350 5th graders were ...they did a great job!

Meghan was thrilled to be able to participate in something like this.  Alyssa now wants to be in Honor Chorus in 5th grade!!
Meghan and her music teacher, Mr. Grebe.  He does great things with the kids, something different every year, and he teaches them music theory, we love him!!

If you look really close Meg is on the front row looking at the camera!
The group and their guest conductor/teacher.

I recorded one of their songs, not the best quality but you get the idea!

Halloween Fun

Saturday morning we decided to carve our pumpkins.  Steve used his dremel to do some of the dirty work and turned orange in the process!!!!
The girls had a good time but sometimes they try to do the super hard pumpkins and then get disappointed when they really don't turn out.
Saturday evening was the ward Trunk or Treat.  It was quite the activity!  Notice Steve in shorts and Eli in his Utah/Idaho costume!!!  Eli wasn't so sure he wanted to be in this get up until everyone called him cute and put candy in his bucket then it was all okay!!  In fact he got up this morning asking to go trick or treating...he'll have to wait until next year!
The ward party had plenty of trunks for trick or treating and 3 jumpy slides/houses.  So I have pictures of all the kids and then a few individuals but none of Alyssa...I never saw the little witchy poo...she was having too much fun!!!
Emmy our fashion forward witch!
Meggy looks like a real Boise State Cheerleader!!! GO TEAM!!! ( I was really missing the Blue and Orange Store last week...Joann's was some assembly required!! ) Fun side note: There is a BSU cheerleader from Woodstock, Georgia which is right down the street from where we live! We looked them up to make the costume look authentic!!
Cute kids with their pumpkins!
I let the kids dress up on Sunday night to go see Mrs. Layde and take her some cookies.    Their neighborhood was AWESOME!! Everyone was out and it was so much fun to see so many families and kids out enjoying a beautiful night.
Even Eli has fallen in love with Mrs. Layde!  We need to get him polished before kindergarten!!! She's great...we love her!!!
