James: Sidney Crosby. He and Dan went around with other neighborhood boys again.
Ruthie: Cheerleader with her best friend that she always trick or treats with. They picked out their cosutmes online and I even got my act together enough to have a bow making play date. They liked making them so much that they made some for Claire and Rosemary too! Erika's mom took Erika and Ruthie around. I tried to keep up, but kept a different route with slow poke Rosemary.
Claire: She saw this super hero costume on Amazon and fell in love and then insisted on a mask. This is the only pink mask I could find, but at least it was only $1. She wore her star pants so it would be like she was flying through the sky :)
Rosemary: Dory. She wanted to be Dory and I bought her the costume at Savers while she was at preschool and left it in her seat as a surprise. She gasped, put her hands on her mouth, and screeched she was so excited. Then she tried it on and immediately announced that it was to big, she didn't like it, and she didn't want to wear it. We left it in the car with her for a couple weeks for her to acclimate to it and had all the other kids take turns wearing it around the house, so she ended up being happy to wear it. Of course, Halloween is the best day of Rosemary's life. She gets SO excited for all the candy. About halfway through, she couldn't keep track of when she was supposed to be saying "trick or treat" vs "thank you" so I had to prompt her. A few times I said, "what do you say?" and she looked at me and said, "I don't know!'. She told me she had to go potty and I pushed her limit and eventually she stopped saying she had to go. It turns out she'd already gone in her pants ;/
We also had dinner with the Hahns again and this time invited a new family in the neighborhood, the Ramarges, over. I even made spaghetti and eyeballs! The recipe ended up being pretty spicy. Oops!
