it's been a while...i'll try to catch up.
last weekend, didn't really do much (i'm not remembering...) all i remember is albert's graduation...bill lawrence, the writer and executive producer of "scrubs" was the commencement speaker, and he had me rolling. really funny guy, and i really like his humor (figures, since i really like the humor of the show). anyways, the weird thing is, i was looking at the program before the ceremony, and i saw this guy's name that reminded me of a guy i knew in high school. so i was looking at the graduates coming into the auditorium, and i saw that it really was him...it was this guy that i used to have in all of my science classes, and he and his friends would tell each other answers in farsi during tests to cheat. but i remember back then that they all wanted to be doctors, and there he was, graduating from usc med school. weird...that people my age are all becoming full-fledged doctors and lawyers...
also, this whole ucla thing is moving along. i'm not sure what to think, and at the rate things are going, i don't think my chances are all that great. i'm at a place where i think i'd like to go back to school, not for all the greatest reasons, but now that i kinda want to go, i'm trying to brace myself for rejection. they just asked me for another statement of purpose that clearly tells them what i want to research (they said they couldn't figure that out from my originally submitted statement of purpose - probably 'cuz i didn't know that i was supposed to tell them that). so over the memorial day weekend, i had to pull that out of my tush...and i think it's pretty obvious that i did, so i don't think they'll accept me (hence, bracing myself for rejection). it'd be such a miracle if i got in that i'd feel obligated to go...

last weekend, art, esther, and i drove up to norcal for jae and lisa's wedding. didn't get to spend a lot of time there, but esther and i were able to spend a few hours in berkeley, a coupla hours in san fran, and then we hung out with esther's stanford friends on friday night.
in berkeley, esther and i ate at cafe durant and walked around a little bit. i finally got a berkeley license plate frame...it was really weird being back. we were walking around telegraph and campus during lunch time, so there were massive amounts of students out and about. usually when i visit campuses, i feel like the students look so young, but there, it didn't really feel that way. maybe we just saw a lot of graduate students. anyways, we walked past sproul and through campus to the bart station and headed in the city. didn't do much there, but we walked around union square and shopped a little, then met up with arthur to drive down to where esther's friends teach (i forgot the name of the city already...) we beat traffic, so we ended up getting there a little early...got boba with salty fried chicken (pretty yummy) and then i was still in a munchy mood, so we got spring rolls at a pho place nearby.
terry took us to a mall where some of his students work...one of them works at build-a-bear, so he got esther a belated birthday present...named moo-moo thanks to a baby pointing out that name in the name book. they had a crazy little birthday party going on while we were there...that was an experience, but it looked like they were having a lot of fun. another student works at cold stone creamery, so we totally ruined our appetites for dinner, but it was really, really good.
the wedding took up most of the day on saturday, and we ended up leaving for la after the reception. the wedding was really nice...lisa looked beautiful, of course, and jae looked...well, like jae. (just kidding, hehe). it was really good seeing so many old faces, like the praise team (kimi and sang and their two daughters, madison and sydney, eugenie, danny chai, christine ohm...), and people from our class that i hadn't seen since graduation.
on sunday, kris graduated!!

i haven't written in a while...there's a coupla things that have happened since the last time i wrote, but nothing big or major.
we hung out for esther's birthday two weekends ago. went to paladar in hollywood...good food...then spent most of the evening going from one place to another to hang out and get drinks. the highlight of the evening for me was when we tested the trunk of elaine's new car...can't divulge other details or someone'll kill me, but i almost peed my pants laughing.
things at work have been kinda busy 'cuz our clinical/surgical trials have been audited and we've been scrambling to clean things up. now, though, things are slowing down a bit...we're waiting for a final audit report and then we'll be incredibly busy again, but until then, we've been able to take things a little easier.
last weekend, we hung out for eunice's birthday. had dinner at palms thai...the restaurant has this asian elvis impersonator that's hilarious! once he started, we could hardly hear each other over his crooning, and at first, most people couldn't tell that he was singing in english...he was actually pretty good except for the accent. and we appreciated him much more when he took a break and another woman took over singing 80s love songs and (i'm guessing) thai ballads...flat, so it wasn't pretty. one of the highlights of the night...rick yune was sitting at the table next to us. not really a highlight...just funny 'cuz some of the girls were taking trips to the bathroom to get a look at him (his back was to us) and philip starting saying rude comments loudly in korean. afterwards, we hung out at bliss (one of the few places that still allows smoking indoors...yucky) and then a nearby cafe for coffee and dessert, where we stayed until midnight. it was nice to just hang out in a quiet place and talk.
on sunday night, i was driving cal home from church and she invited me over to dinner and alias. okay, how crazy was that season finale?!? really good, but crazy!!
my mom got really sick on sunday night, so i stayed home from work on monday to help out a little. met up with the life group girls for lunch and had a good conversation...
tonight, art, esther, and i are driving up to berkeley (yay, road trip and yay, berkeley!!) we're going up for lisa tahk's wedding, but we wanted to go up a little early to hang out. i can't wait to go up to berkeley again and hang out in san francisco...feel like it's been a while since i've been up there...too long. yay!
