Cold!

Anyone else feeling winter's bite? I dread the heating bill this month, because the heater is on more than it's off lately. One thing I cannot figure out tho, is why Galen won't wear socks. He complains about being cold, huddles in a blanket, yet won't put on socks! *looks suspicious* Do any other guys do this? Is it a guy thing? Or is he just weird?

For the last three weeks I've been trying out City of Heros, just to see if I like it again. Well, it only took those three weeks to determine that I like WoW more. All my old friends are happy to see me again, and I found out there's even a mini get-together in New York going on the beginning of Feb. I look forward to pictures! Not sure how anyone would want to travel in this cold tho, even Multnomah Falls froze! Hopefully this summer will see a big gathering of my guild and we'll all rabble together having fun.

A close friend of mine is getting a new kitty! I'm so excited, I love kitties! She's three years old and the shelter named her "Jewel". I'm not sure if the name will be kept, but we'll find out soon!

Ribs

I'm full and happy, boy are ribs good. Never made them before, but luckily I had mom's recipe that she gave me when I moved out... umm... seven years ago? Oh my god I'm old. *laughs* Thanks mom! I did as follows:

Forgotten Beef Bake (BBQ sauce)

6 oz. can tomato sauce
2 tbsp Molasses
2 tbsp Cider vinegar
1 tsp Liquid smoke flavoring (hickory)
1 tbsp minced onion
3 tbsp water
3 pinches brown sugar

Sprinkle salt & pepper on all sides of meat & put in Dutch oven or casserole. In small pan combine ingredients, bring to boil & simmer 5 minutes. Pour sauce over meat. Bake at 275 degrees for 3 to 4 hours.

I only added the brown sugar because mom mentioned it when I told her I was making ribs. I think next time I'll add an actual measured amount, since I would have liked the sauce to be a tad sweeter. But overall it was very very yummy. Not counting the fact that I had to buy some of the ingredients because I didn't have them, the whole dinner cost us about $15 for the ribs, potatoes, bread and salad. Pretty good I say! And I'm gonna make it again this weekend since we'll be having everyone over. Figured it would make a tasty Christmas dinner, which Galen and I usually do when everyone finally gets together after Christmas. We did crab last year I think. Actual whole crabs, three of them I think.

Thanks for the recipe mom! *scuttles off drooling and happy*

Been Awhile

So it's 4:30am, again, and I'm awake. Was awake at this time last night as well. It seems strange, but it's also when Galen goes to work now. Well, he leaves at either 4am or 5am. The new position seems to agree with him, and I love having him at home for dinner. Speaking of dinner, I put a whole chicken in the slowcooker with water (thanks for the tip mom!) up to the top and it was yummy. Going to make chicken noodle soup today! Fresh chicken broth is so much better than from the can, I'm sure. Just gotta go pick up some carrots and I'm set.

Next weekend (Jan 19th-20th) we're going to have another big get together of all the boys for gaming. I'm going to be running the show once again, and it's gonna be fun! New campaign, everyone has new characters, but the story will be continued. I love planning out a good story. Little do they know how much of it is going to intertwine! *rubs hands together and grins* Muhahaha!

Galen and I have started playing City of Heros together, and it's a blast! I missed not playing a mmorpg with him, so this is great. I haven't been into WoW since Christmas, and I know my friends there are scratching their heads as to what happened to me. I think I'll poke my head in today. Hope they aren't too mad that I poofed for two weeks! Ah well, playing CoH with Galen is much more fun. Plus Wade and Nate are around now and then to bug as well, bonus!
