Look Familiar?

You know how pet stores sell that "pet grass" that's oh so healthy for your kitties? Yeeeah, should be a warning label on it about how soon after eating said cat will puke. Only made that mistake once, many years ago. This brought back memories. Enjoy!

Second Ultrasound

Pictures are supposed to be worth a thousand words, but these are kinda hard to see. The baby is the white part on the bottom of the black circle. Best part is, when the tech first brought it up on the monitor, baby was floppin' around like a fish! The tech also confirmed that there is only one baby, which is 13cm across. ( I dunno what I would have done if she said it was twins >.< ) I didn't realize it would grow so fast, but guess so! Heart rate was on the high end of normal, but still normal. We got to hear the wooshing sounds of it too. *bounce squeal* I definitely have a floppy peanut!

Roll of Thunder

Last night, after 9pm, we had quite the storm. The news said that there was one inch of rain in one hour at the airport. At the height of the storm, the thunder was so loud it shook the floor and woke Galen up. Now -that- my friends, is a storm! We had mostly sheet lightning, but I did manage to see one bolt. I watched the show for a good half hour in the dark, and the sky lit up at least once every 20 seconds or better. Rain was coming down so hard I cracked open the window to hear the thunder better.

Seems the kitties weren't all that thrilled though, I had Tux in my lap at one point because he wanted to cuddle. I also have the tender new flesh flaps on my hand from him peeling out to get away. *sigh*

On a side note, we went to Office Max a few days back and bought a real laser light. Lots of fun with the kitties that way, I've even managed to run Tux into Susie. Also got Susie to dive half way under the couch after it. Hehe! They climb walls nicely, or try at least, and love chasing after it over a blanket or clothes.

Also, we put a bid in on that townhouse after having Church and Company give us an estimate on how much it would cost to repair/remodel the place. Seems we have to wait until after Memorial Day weekend to get an answer from the listing agent though. So far there haven't been any other bids on the place, so keep those fingers crossed.

10 Weeks

"This week, your baby measures about 1 1/2 inches from top to bottom--about as big as a cocktail shrimp and similar in shape. Tooth buds are forming, bones are growing, and hair is starting to sprout. Her eyelids are fused shut and will remain closed until week 27, but she can hear you now since the inner workings of the ear are complete. Neurons appear at one end of the spinal cord, and the basic divisions of the brain are present. She can also bend her arms at the elbows and has distinct fingers. Genitals continue to form, but your doctor would not be able to determine the sex yet, even by sonogram."

I love shrimp. Yum. I had some last night at McGrath's Fish House. Yum. My grilled cheese fetish has gone away, now it's nothing specific. Still no morning sickness too, oh boy.

9 Weeks

The hottest day of the year and I'm up to 9 weeks pregnant. Thankfully mom and dad loaned us a monster of an AC unit and it's working wonderfully. I retreated back to the second bedroom for a bit because I was too cold out in the living room! Hehe! I ran some errands this morning about 10am and was amazed at how hot it was already. Feels wonderful to come back inside.

Today we're going back out to the same townhouse for a second look, and having Church and Company do an estimate on how much it would cost to repair/remodel the place. At 4pm mind you. The hottest part of the day. Oyii, what timing. CJ assures us that no one else has put in an offer for the place, and given that they want $105k for it, we're probably going to only offer $80k or $90k since even Galen and I could tell it needs work. I think I'll bring my camera and take pictures, just to be on the safe side.

That Kind of Day

I eat breakfast, wait two hours to take my sugar, and take a nap. Eat lunch, wait two hours, take a nap. Do we see a pattern yet? At least Susie loves snuggling with me.

Learn by Doing

A pleasant surprise this morning. I had the smallest slice of cake that mom could cut last night, and Galen ate the frosting. My sugars weren't high this morning. Granted they still need to come down in general (morning was 122), but at least it wasn't skyrocket high. Dr. Beard, the one monitoring my diabetes, only changed my doses a tiny bit and won't change them again for another week. The ideal morning number would be between 90-100 and after meals no higher then 120. My mornings have been in the 120's and my after meals still vary a lot. I'm kinda on a diet, where I watch my carbs and spread out what I eat at specific times each day. Makes for a rather rigid schedule, but I have seen the change in my numbers. It helps bring them down and even them out. No major spikes up anymore.

Apparently pregnant woman are more sensitive to carbs in the morning, so I eat 30 carbs for breakfast (among other things) and then 30 after I take my blood sugar 2 hours later. This equates out to 1 and a half cups of Special K cereal and then later two Eggo waffles. Freddies has waffles on sale for $1 per box atm. Yay for cheap food! I'm having a hard time finding another protein for the morning. Eggs are obvious, but what else is healthy? I'm not a huge egg fan to begin with, so it's hard to choke one down. I'm thinking ham, if I heat it up really good first. Not supposed to eat most lunchmeats.

Enough ranting! At 1pm Galen and I are going to look at a townhouse in Hazeldell. Cross your fingers it's what we want!

First time for everything

Just experienced my first sugar low. I checked it at 9am this morning, 133. Took a nap and woke up at 11am since I had to pee sooooo bad. Galen was home and I about staggered to the couch shaking. My mind was definitely fuzzy and I told him something about feeling so weak. He spouted off right away with 'check your blood sugar'. It was a trial getting to the sink to wash my hands and then to the table, but much sweating later and I did. Sure enough, I was at 59. Drinking a glass of juice didn't seem to do much in the first five min so I grabbed some lettuce, sliced up a tomato and two slices of cheese. Plus four big swallows of more juice. 20 min later I'm up to 103. Damn it's cold. Galen says it's much too hot in here but I'm freezing. See when I woke up I only had two things on my mind. Onion rings and tacos. He's out getting me the tacos now, hehe! I've been feeling cold lately quite often, but my sugars were never too low. Gotta be careful that the pregnancy strangeness and low sugar strangeness don't get me mixed up.

Peanut Picture

Peanut picture, here ya go! The white part is the baby, so small! *sniffle* But between week six and seven it supposedly doubles in size. www.parenting.com is my friend lately.
