Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I pulled out some memories of the summer to help beat the chill. I don't think the temperature outside is supposed to rise above 20 degrees for the next 10 days or so. So, I thought it would be nice to reminisce about the days of sunshine and warmth. However, I also remember being incredibly miserable on these days because of the extreme heat. I'll take the cold any day!

Stinky Diaper

A moment of brillance today, please note the new verse 3 to "Stinky Diaper".

Somebody has a stinks diaper,
I don't know what he ate it's hard to decipher
Somebody has a somebody has a stinky diaper.

Somebody took a really nasty duke,
I don't know what he ate but he makes me wanna puke,
Oh, somebody has a somebody has a stinky diaper.

Gotta change it quick, gotta change it fast,
so your little hiney doesn't get a diaper rash,
Oh, somebody has a somebody has a stinky diaper.

Now your all clean and now your not stinky,
I'd better go wash I got some on my pinky,
Somebody has a somebody has a stinky diaper.

If you aren't feeling the rhythm and the melody, I'll sing it for you sometime. Or you might get to hear it on my Greatest Hits CD someday.

Digging Out

We have been BLESSED with some great snow in the last few days. Yes, blessed- I am huge snow bunny. I can't get enough of it! Miles and I went outside the other night just to listen to the sound of the snow falling. We took Miles on his first sledding adventure, and he giggled the whole time. Emory made her first snow angles. In the picture above, Clif needed a little help shovelling the sidewalk, so Emory took out her sand shovel to help.

Ode to Karen

2006-2007

I always thought that when you died,
You'd float to the top, not lay and hide.

Oh, how I weep, I am so greif-stricken
As the water in your bowl was starting to thicken.

For three days now you have not moved one bit,
When I tell Emory, she'll throw a fit!

So this is how it ends, on a hunger strike
Never learned to read, sing or ride a bike.

Or was it the water, was it just too cold,
but as far as fish go, you were pretty old.

Your fish bowl was turning a nice shade of green,
It's just one of the the things that I hate to clean.

Karen, we'll miss feeding you every day,
You had a good life, now goodbye we must say.

Rest in Peace, Karen, I'll try not to gush,
Our friendship ends here, and now I must flush.

On the Catwalk

Yesterday, Emory put on a fashion show for us. We opened up her dress up box and went CRAZY! I don't know who had more fun, she or I. We went complete from hair to shoes. I had so much fun watching her twirl and primp in front of the mirror. She had the most fun being Cinderella. All little girls should get to do this from time to time. Come to think of it, even big girls like me should do this from time to time. From top to bottom, she was: Tinkerbell, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Ballerina,Cinderella, Pirate, Cowgirl

Mom of the Year

Can I give myself that title? I think so. I know I deserve it today. When Emory woke up this morning, she saw some birds out her window who were looking for food. She was concerned about the birds because we have an inch of ice on the ground preventing them from finding food. She really wanted to go feed the birds. 13 degrees. That is what the thermometer said. So we bundled up and went out and threw seed for the birds. Here are some snapshots of our frigid morning.

Bingoheaddad

I always kinda figured I was the more mature half of "Clangie". (See Clangie entry in archive for description) While I was out training to run 26.2 miles, Clif was perfecting his XBOX skills. I love to read a great book, his favorite reading material is Sports Illustrated. I like to keep up with current events, I would challenge him on who is the current Secretary of State. (But he could tell you what team played in what bowl game this season.)

Well, I must now admit that I am not as grown up as Clif. Don't let him fool you, there is alot going on in that Charlie Brown head of his. While I blog about "glitter poop" and "hooters", Clif has created a blog that lets you into all his serious thoughts. He is definately more mature than I am. I proudly add him to my list of worthy blogs today. Check it out, and meet the other side of Clif. I am sure you willl be proud of him, like I am.

Glitter Poop

glit-ter poop- noun.- the product created when a 3 year-old is left alone on her potty seat with a jar of glitter. Of course she spills the glitter all over herself, the floor, and potty seat, and the contents within. "Look mom, I made glitter poop!"

Man, parenting is easy!

It is 7:55 at night, both kids are in their rooms and quiet. They both WANTED to go to bed tonight. I only had to read one book at bedtime. I'm in my pajamas with a little black dog on my lap. We plan to watch an uninterrupted movie tonight at home. We have very little planned for the upcoming weekend. My husband is cleaning the kitchen. I have a chocolate brownie with my name on it waiting for me. Hmmmm, Life is good.

Christmas Photo Album

No, I haven't blogged in a while. I guess I didn't want to complain about being home alone with the kids with the flu while Clif was in Chicago. Then, we had a wonderful Christmas with family here in Kansas City and then in North Carolina. We didn't get to see Ernie, Sandy and Anne, but other than that, we made the rounds rather well this year. We even got to spend some time with the Arkansas Smith family. The trip to North Carolina went smoothly. The kids did pretty well on all the flights, and the only hitch came upon our arrival back to KCI. We realized that the airlines left our stroller in Baltimore and we had two VERY tired kids to haul around with our 9 pieces of luggage. Then we got to our car in the parking lot at 10:00 p.m. and the car would not start. Other than that, we had a great time. Here are some photos from our holiday.
