I like The Eagle. You know I like The Eagle. This is not news. However, this does not mean I love it in an entirely uncritical way. And one of the most problematic aspects, for me, is the utter lack of women. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's basically a Boys' Own Adventure Story, and I appreciate that it's about Marcus and Esca, and it's not like I don't like their awesome relationship. But even the book had women! The book at least had Cottia.

The movie has no women with speaking parts. None. I am pretty sure this was one of the first things I noticed as the credits rolled.

And, you know, fuck that.

So here are icons of all of the women I could easily screencap who appeared in The Eagle. I am not expecting anyone to actually want to use these, because I suck at icons, but feel free. You can draw all over them, whatever, modify them, I don't care. (Suggested personalization: "Fuck you, Kevin Macdonald.")

I am fixing this problem in a time-honored fannish way: with fanfiction. You'll see. Stay tuned while I, um, finish editing it. (The story was supposed to be the challenge entry, but the story got too long.)
