My third songvid is done, done, done! I feel kind of silly announcing it when most of you reading this have been feedbacking me on the vid in progress, but hey...
It's a zipped RealPlayer file, 8.7 megs, 320x240. Minor warning for language on the song lyrics, I suppose, though nothing as bad as Flower -- mostly just a masturbation reference. You watched RatB, so you can handle a masturbation reference, right?
Episodes used: Sleepless, Duane Barry, Ascension, One Breath, Anasazi, The Blessing Way, Piper Maru, Apocrypha, Tunguska, Terma, The Red and the Black, Existence. Yes, there's stuff from Existence. Consider yourself warned.
I would just like to say that I spent far more time messing with brightness and clip speed than I ever thought I would, and I would like it if important scenes of X-Files had not been shot in near-total darkness.
So, what do you people think?

versaphile, who likes to host her friends' vids, has been hosting the two I have. Her download page now has links to slightly-corrected zipped RealPlayer versions of my two existing vids.
Flower (Hard Core Logo, Joe/Billy slash) has been re-exported in a correct aspect ratio. It's at 424x240, which is about right. More or less. Anyway, IT IS NO LONGER ALL SQUISHY. If you liked it when it was squishy, by all means redownload it. Please. So I can stop being embarassed about having a squishy-ratio vid on the net. Also, initial credits have been added. Warning: explicit lyrics.
Wherever You Will Go (Jurassic Park III, Alan/Billy slash) has had initial credits added. No other changes, but if you liked it, please take this version instead of your old one.
Due to the fact that I am actually learning how to work this RealPlayer export thingy, the HCL vid is about a meg smaller than it was before, and the JP3 vid is about two megs smaller.
And, yes, the "Sorry" vid is almost ready. I'm just going to do a little more tweaking of it. Soon, soon it will be ready. I think I'm starting to get to be technically better at this video editing thing. I look at "Flower" and cringe in places --even though I still quite like the idea of it, I just threw the clips on there, timing by ear, no effects of any sort, a couple of bad cuts and a really awful pronoun problem in the last verse. I want to remake it someday. On "Wherever You Will Go," I started to get better at timing to the word and beat, though I was still doing it by ear, and I learned how to do a fade. This vid, I am trying to get Premiere to do exactly what I want. I used the waveform to mark the beats. I brightened clips that were too dark. I slowed down the ends of clips that were too quick. I'm obsessed with timing actions to the word. I manually cropped widescreen shots. I really paid attention to POV. I'm hoping this one is going to be really good, even though everybody who watches M/K vids has probably seen these clips ten thousand times before.
Well, the songvid is mostly sort of finished. I'm reasonably happy with it, even though the timing of the clips and the POV is messed up in several places, because (a) there weren't that many clips to use and (b) most of the time, I couldn't see what I was doing -- the Preview window didn't really work, previewing most of the individual clips didn't really work, and the setting in/out points thing was kind of imprecise. Also, like I said, I have a bad sense of tempo anyway.
But still, for my first effort at vidding (or video editing at all, really) I'm happy with how it turned out.
My mom watched it over my shoulder. The first comment she made on it, halfway though, was, "Did you know that he sticks out his tongue just when the song mentions blowjobs? Isn't that a funny coincidence?"
My reply was, "Yes, that was sort of the point. That was, in fact, the original reason I wanted to make this, so that I could see that part."
She didn't say anything after that.
I'm imagining how much better I could be if I had a video editing setup that actually let me see what I was doing without crashing. If I get a new computer, I am definitely going to get one with a good processor and humongous amounts of RAM, and possibly a whole extra hard drive for capturing video if I want to do this again. Which I think I do. This was kind of fun.
Also, versaphile, who is a wonderful wonderful person who talked me through the process when I didn't understand what all these crazy buttons and switches did, is also hosting the file. Flower.zip should be about 7 megs, zipped RealPlayer file.
Go! Download! Enjoy! Tell me I'm wonderful! Tell me I suck! I've never done this before!
Yeah, the "go to Shi'ar space" issues (1, 2, 5, 7), while Brisson was doing the ones with story on Earth with the Beak family. Although I think they co-wrote #1. They've got a "New Mutants by…
I think Hickman's not going to be writing any more New Mutants, that it was just him doing that one story in the first arc... That's what I've seen said anyway. Not 100% if that's correct.
