We found out that Zach was selected to be in the All State Chorus! We are really happy for him and really proud of the work he has put into choir the past few years. It's wonderful that he has found something he is really good at and really loves. Congratulations Zach!
Such a cool picture
I saw this picture online of the eclipse from a week or so ago...I thought it was so beautiful and cool. I absolutely love it.
We also decked the halls!
As is our Christmas decorating tradition, we got everything out for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. We actually did everything on Friday except for putting the actual ornaments on the tree and making the outdoor arrangment. We finished those on Saturday. I love when the house is decorated...it makes me really, really happy.
It was Ava's turn to put the star on the tree this year...
Perfect!
Ava even added a little something to our message board by the garage door...too cute!
We are all ready...let the Christmas countdown begin!
Thanksgiving and a visit!
My parents came into town for Thanksgiving. They got in late Tuesday night and we spent a few hours visiting before I went up to finish a project for work. On Wednesday I spent most of the day cooking...and then that night we got some yummy Indian food (I was done cooking for the day). On Thursday I was back in the kitchen finishing things up. We had the parade and dog show on and actually had a pretty relaxed day getting things ready. Here is what we ended up with...
This wasn't quite everything, but it gives you a really good idea! On to the table...
It was finally time to eat! We had the Sister Missionaries join us too - although they weren't super hungry for dinner because it was the third house they had been to that day. That's a whole lot of Thanksgiving! They had their appetities back in time for dessert though!
Duke was really excited about all of the smells all day - the poor thing really wanted some turkey - but he just curled up and let us enjoy our dinner.
We sat at the table and talked for quite a while after we ate. Dad even took a tiny little cat nap! I snapped this picture without him even noticing :)
After dinner the Sisters wanted to make some stickers/decals. They have an inside joke and were pretty excited to get these made. I actually didn't finish them while they were here because the weeding was taking a long time, but I got them done before the night was over.
We had dessert after we were done working on the vinyl. I didn't take pictures of pecan pie bars, but we had a cheesecake, whoopie pies, and some very, very thick pecan pie bars. It was a yummy Thanksgiving spent in good company!
We got a really great sunset one of the nights when my parents were here too.
My dad and I kept going out and taking pictures as it was changing. I'm sure his pictures are way better than mine, but you can at least get the idea of how pretty it was.
During the visit my dad spent a lot of time working on family pictures and getting them uploaded to FamilySearch so everyone has access to them. There are some really amazing pictures - they are real family treasures.
My mom renewed her friendship with Duke and they got lots of cuddle time during the trip. He was very sad when they were leaving yesterday. It was pretty endearing.
The time went by quickly and we had a mixture of very busy days and very relaxed days. I am glad they got to come and spend the holiday with us...it gave me even more to be thankful for.
Building the castle
Greg and I signed up to help assemble the castle for the Madrigal's performances. It is quite the set!
I had no idea it was so elaborate. There were ten of us there for about 2 1/2 hours. It is very, very sturdy and very heavy!
Here is the finished look!
And the chamber's singers...I can't wait to see these guys perform...just a few more days!
