Boq is a kind-hearted Munchkinlander farmer and former school friend of Elphaba and Glinda's during their time at Shiz University.

History[]

As a student at Shiz University, Boq attended the agricultural school - Briscoe College. During his time at Shiz, Boq comes to befriend Elphaba Thropp, a previous childhood playmate in Rush Margins, Munchkinland. And Boq, along with his other friends Crope and Tibbett, go on to assist Elphaba in her research for Doctor Dillamond.

Boq is also friends and roommates with Avaric Tenmeadows, although he appears to be more so jealous of Avaric due to his good looks, charm, and money, and later develops a friendship with Galinda Arduenna, which comes only after a year-long infatuation with her which never came to more than a brief kiss. As his crush on her gradually lifts, Boq states he was in love with Galinda, not Glinda, which she later comes to call herself.

After Ama Clutch’s death, he attends her funeral, along with Elphaba, Glinda, Avaric, Crope, Tibbett, Elphie's sister Nessarose, and new friend Fiyero Tigelaar. After the funeral he heads to the Philosophy Club with the others (excluding Nessarose, Glinda, and Elphaba).

After graduating, Boq eventually goes into farming and also marries Milla, a former classmate and apparent college sweetheart; she was initially a friend of Galinda’s. Boq and Milla go on to reside in the rural Nest Hardings region of Munchkinland in a well-kept farmhouse with a yellow domed roof. Even though the two have at least four children including Yellowgage, Rikla, and Clarinda, it is also known that Milla has attempted suicide, probably due to her now being of a lower social standing. Elphaba encounters Boq not long after Nessarose's death, as she inquires after Dorothy Gale, and again after her assault on Madame Morrible.
