Mee-rahn-nah is leader of the merfolk off the coast of Maracoor Abiding.
History[]
Around the southeast tip of Great Northern Isle, Rain and Iskinaary were met by a small group of merfolk. They had sleek, grey heads with intelligent faces that looked like pounded grey leather. They also had dark, lashless eyes, pursed mouths, attentive noses that twitched alongside whiskers, and sharp, greasy teeth. Their bodies were made of a seahorse-like spine, flippers from the shoulder that came to paws of three-thumbed hands, and long, elegant tails of shimmering viridescence.
They spoke in a language unfamiliar to Rain nor Iskinaary, but eventually get to asking the two for a favor: they carried with them a parcel carrying the decomposing corpse of a young merchild in need of being buried in the soil of the island. Traditionally, merfolk are buried deep within the sea, but apparently this dead child was “unhappy” in life and needs to be buried separated from the others. Rain requests the leader give a name for the child and they give the child the name of “Mercy”.
