I was addicted to these ice cream bars when I served in Ecuador. Imagine my surprise when I found them all over Europe, the Middle East and Mexico. I made my family walk for miles in the scorching heat in Mexico to find one. But in the good ol' U.S. of A. they don't make Magnums. Incomprehensible. The other day Dallin and I walked to a Texaco in Woods Cross, Utah (not LA or NY) and as always, I glance in the Good Humor brand ice cream case and am SHOCKED. There lay piles and piles of "new" Magnums. I can't even formulate the words. "Dal," I whisper (insert Toy Story aliens "ooooooooo" here). By now the convenience store clerk is starting to get really worried. Probably thought I saw a rodent in his case. My husband explains to him my obsession with these silky Belgium chocolate masterpieces and he leaves me alone. Thoughts tumble through my head, "Howlonghavethesebeenhere, ShouldIbuythemalltostockup, Willtheybehereforevernow?" I ask Dallin if I can have one, I'm unemployed, he's my sugar daddy now. I bite into it (even though it's 45 degrees outside) and it's heavenly! This particular one had an extra layer of chocolate which I didn't really enjoy but man, if these little lovelies are around for good, I better hit the gym like there's no tomorrow. Please visit your local Texaco and see what I'm talking about, you won't be sorry.

Battle Scars
Our puppy decided to lunge at my face last night and split my nose open. I'm not sure if it was the angle in which she hit me in the eye socket or if her spiky collar is what got me. It hurt like the dickens but I didn't realize I was bleeding until later. She's been so good lately. She only lunges when she is wayyyyy too hyper. She generally bounces off the walls right before bedtime then she passes out. We talked to other bully owners and their dogs do the same thing. It's never intentional but I hate it. She got in BIG trouble. Such a stinker.

Bowl-a-thon
On Saturday, my friend Cami invited me to participate in Zions Bank's Bowl-a-thon at Fat Cats. I was a bit hesitant because we all know my bowling ability but she assured me that it didn't matter. We had two hours to bowl our hearts out. I bowled an 83 and an 80 so I was pretty pleased with myself. We ate pizza and little Wrigley enjoyed pushing the balls around. We tied a balloon to his pants so we could find him since everybody looked the same in their sky blue t-shirts (and he's littler than everyone). Thanks so much for the invite Cami, it was a blast!

Bob
Every Wednesday, my grandpa and his best friend, Bob, work the 3 p.m. Salt Lake Temple session. I didn't think I'd be able to go today but was able to and figured I'd surprise my grandpa. I got there and he wasn't there because he's sick but Bob was. Bob is a spry 90+. You'd never know it if his age spots and wrinkles didn't give it away. The way he walks (unassisted) and drives, his mental capacity, etc. you'd think he's 75 tops. He's so kind to drive my grandpa to the temple every week. They are two "grumpy" old men whose sense of humor, slight irreverence and spunk make them endeared to those around them.
My heart was so full to be a part of their 3 p.m. group today (and in the past). There is always a group of stalwart saints who show up weekly to serve in the temple. If one is missing, there are questions asked around as to where they are. One particular old man, I just want to put in my pocket and take him home with me. He reminds me of a turtle - bald, wrinkly, glasses, sad droopy eyes and a beak nose. He always wears a white cardigan. His face always looks so sad and my heart just aches for whatever is troubling him, if anything. About a year ago, my grandpa and Bob asked him where he'd been and he said his wife had just passed away and that's why he'd missed a few weeks. But he still comes, every week, by himself, greeted by the 3 p.m. Wednesday group. As much as I'm not a fan of getting older, to be able to serve so consistently and be surrounded by such spiritual giants is something I really look forward to.
I was able to go to the temple today without worry as Maggie was at the hospital getting spayed and all went well. The below picture shows her passed out on the couch. I feel like a horrible "mom" but know it is ultimately for the best. The other picture I just had to post because sometimes her ever-growing jowls get stuck behind her new canines and it makes me laugh. :)

Bully
My stubborn-as-a-bulldog Bulldog has recently become very possessive of the couch. Which is totally normal but not acceptable in our household. We want her to only come on the couch when she's invited on the couch. Our dog trainer instructed us to get the plastic floor mats with the pokes and put it poky side up on the couch to discourage her. It doesn't hurt her, just makes it really uncomfortable. As you can see by the pictures, it worked really well. She IS bullheaded! LOL We may have to resort to a Scat Mat or something, who knows. She's too smart for her own good!
Speaking of that, she now does sit, shake, look, stay, kiss and down. Down was a hard one to learn since dogs don't like to be down because they're in a submissive state. The first few times, Dallin had to about tackle her to get her down and I thought she'd never learn it, but she did! We were so proud. I think next up, we'll teach her roll over. She will do anything for treats...
