I haven't blogged in over a month!!! WHAT?!?! Life and Facebook have gotten in the way.
We're currently in the midst of home decorating madness, end-of-summer grasping, and beginning-of-newschoolyear chaos. Well, I say "we", but actually Ryan is gone to VA this week. How convenient... the Navy strikes AGAIN! The worst possible week of the year. So much DRAMA with school and homework and bus schedules and fees and books and school supplies and new teachers and blah, blah, blah... but whatever, he's hanging out catching up with old friends, returning to a nice, quiet hotel room to watch whatever he wants on TV. What. is. that. like? I dunno.
Delaney loves her new school and seeing her old friends. Madelyn adores her new teacher (actually a good friend of mine and her Sunday School teacher) and loves that I take her to school in the morning this year. Sophia is ready to start... we meet her teacher tomorrow and her first official day of pre-school is Tuesday. YAY! It has been nice having them all with me this summer (when they weren't in random camps) but I just don't get much "work" done at work and, honestly, get absolutely NO "me" time.
Tonight at dinner, we played our daily (although sometimes we play it at bedtime) "What was your favorite part of the day?" game where we take turns going around the table answering the question. The girls were so cute in their answers, as always. Then Delaney had the idea to play a game where you say something we love about each person at the table. It was SO wonderful! Just to see them light up eachothers eyes by the sweet things they said about eachother. I wish I had videotaped it. Honestly. I had a lump in my throat from how detailed and thoughtful their comments were. I'm so glad they love each other so deeply (even when they're screaming at eachother). Then we went around and said 3 things we know each person likes. It's amazing how well they know eachother. Obvious things like "Sophie likes princesses" and "Delaney likes soccer", but also intuitive things like Sophia saying, "Maddy likes to drink drinks... a lot". Maddy squealed "YES!" It is true, but you would only know that if you lived with her every day. She IS one of the thirstiest people on this planet!!! Only twice did someone say something another person liked that wasn't true - and oncee was because they totally ganged up and tricked me... because if you were wrong about someone's "like", you had to do the Chicken Dance! Those kids had me rolling with laughter... well, we ALL were. What a great evening! And I can't believe Sophie is old enough to understand and play these silly games already... wow. It just makes me feel so lucky to be a mom... THEIR mom;)
I am crazy blessed. Crazy and Blessed.
Crazy. Blessed.
