Bye bye Molly!

Today was Molly's last day. She was here from HK to support PA category for 2 months. Very nice, smiley girl all the time. Good to have someone around who also spoke Cantonese.

All the best back in Hong Kong! Take care and keep in touch!

CNY 2008 Part 2

Work started on Monday 11 Feb. Tons of issues to follow up, reports to do, meetings etc. But manage to meet up with 1 of my mentor who was back from Shenzhen with her family for Chinese New Year. Fay left Sony about 1/2 year ago to join her husband who was working in Shenzhen. After work, went with Koay to Fay's house in Sri Petaling at the Esplanade. Went to have dinner nearby in OUG. After that, went back to her place for more chit chat and what a surprise when YC (left Sony 3 years back) also popped by as she lived nearby.

Koay, YC, Fay and me

The week went by fast, with loads of work. On Friday, went to the US embassy in the morning and what a coincidence to meet May, who was Ai Wei's ex-roommate back in uni. She's now in China with her husband. That afternoon, went for my dental appointment, then did a bit of work and about 6pm, left for Bukit Jelutong to visit Razia, a friend since Pre-U times. Have not seen her for at least 3 years?? Was good to catch up and her lil boy Mikhail was such a cheeky lil guy ;) Got back about 11.30pm.

Mikhail

Took a short nap till about 1.30am before waking up to start doing work till the morning around 8.30am. Then potter around the house and packed for my short trip to Penang to visit Wani.

Left for LCCT at 11.15am, and boarded my flight at 1pm. Arrived in Penang about 2pm and went to Sunway Carnival for lunch at Sakae Sushi. Pretty good food :) Didn't know there were many other outlets around - The Curve, Bangsar Village, Queensbay mall etc. Each table had a self service IBM touch screen monitor to browse the menu and place orders. Food was pretty good. Did some grocery shopping, before going home. Bummed around, cooked dinner and watched Hairspray. Long day for me! Next day went out for lunch at Pizza Hut at Queensbay Mall, walked around a bit and headed for the airport for my flight at 3pm.

Monday was the last day at the office. Another busy day, with meetings. Left at about 7pm to Soosan's house in Putrajaya. Was suppose to go visit the previous week but things got a bit busy. Her lil Indah's are almost 4 months and more active now. Definitely a joy to watch :) It was good catching up with both Soosan and Ghaz. Left about 8.30pm and back home. Had packing to do!

Today, went out to run errands and to the bank as well, and to the embassy in the afternoon to collect my visa. Got home at around 4.30pm just now. Going to have dinner, get ready and head to the airport for my flight to Tokyo at 11.35pm. 2 weeks went by so fast! But it was good to have a short break, also the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, and eat a lot of the local food! Yum!

CNY 2008 Part 1

I'm luckier this year, to have planned my biz trip to coincide around Chinese New Year again, this time in time to come back on Chinese New Year eve. Had a small dinner with my family. Next day, was in Tangkak, like every year on the 1st day, to see my mum's side of the family. Good to see them again. Just bummed around, chit chat, and everyone went for reunion dinner at 'Shang Hai Tang' that night. Got back home around 11pm.

Tanglung/red lantern everywhere

2nd day, woke up about 10. Headed over to my aunty's house in Taman Rasah to hang out with my cousins. Had lunch, played mah jong and 'in between'. I'm happy to have won RM12, since I only took out RM1 to play 'in between'. Haha..

My winning pieces

3rd day, went to Sheryl's new house in Seremban Garden. Very nyonya feel..with the wooden furniture around. The dining room ala kopitiam. Can fit 20ppl?? Chairs, bench and all. Chit chat, had some cookies that Siew Hui baked and some good food :)

Rushed over to Weng Heong in Blossom Heights for reunion lunch with my dad's side's family. Talked Transformers with my cousin nephews. Haha..

Trying out Sheryl's Canon digital SLR..tempted to get one too..huu

Swung by Yen Ching's place as Yvonne, Lu Ai and Su San were also there. As usual, with Yvonne there, we'll laugh till our stomaches ache! It was good catching up though it was only for an hour.

Had reunion dinner with school friends at Lucky Palace that evening. Good to see them again.. some I had not seen since leaving school. I agree we should explore the idea of catering and having the get-together at someone's house next year. Hint hint!

4th day, went over to Siew Hui's house for tea. Met up with some others there. After that hopped over to A&W (boy, I haven't had a float in a longgggg time) to meet up with Denise, who's moving from Sydney to London. It was good to catch up since it's been a few years since we've seen each other. At night, dropped by to meet up with some friends at La Esqina at Era Walk.

With Siew Hui's baked and fried goodies :P

With Denise and Khay - Good luck in London you both!

4 days went by so fast but good that I had some time off. Not much rest, but it was good meeting up with friends, family and eating a lot..hahah. Start work tomorrow..huuuu..not looking forward to that.

Balik kampung..

Blogging from the lounge at LAX. Will be flying out in ~2 hours.

It's been a crazy weekend..working 2 full days at home! Packing last min last night. Went to work today till 2pm, went to Pacific Heights to collect some documents, quick stop at Best Buy and Circuit City for dealer call and got home at 4pm. Did some more work, showered, had a light snack and before you know it, it was 6.30 and the limo has arrived. Harley (the 70+year old uncle) is my driver again.

I'm not my usual 'chit chatty' person today, and I slept all through out the 1.5hour drive to the airport. Lack of sleep these few weeks. LAX wasn't crowded at all..guess all the CNY crowd left over the weekend. Check in was a breeze and now I'm sitting her, snacking, surfing, working..waiting for my flight..longgggggg flight ahead, arrive on CNY eve, the 6th.

Look fwd to the family reunion dinner..getting angpao's (yay, i'm gonna get angpao's from the newlyweds..haha)...meeting friends and family..and having some time off. See you guys back home.
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! GONG XI FA CAI!

Groundhog day??

Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog

Groundhog Day or Groundhog's Day is a holiday celebrated in United State and Canada on Feb 2. It is said, if a groundhog (also known as a woodchuck, marmot or ground squirrel) emerges from its burrow on this day and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If the groundhog sees its shadow, it will return into its burrow, and the winter will continue for 6 more weeks.

It's done in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. And the ground hog is Punxsutawney Phil of Gobbler's Knob. True enough, it did see it's shadow at 7.27am (28º F fog and mist) with the crowd booing six more weeks of Winter. Chills....
