Thanksgiving / Black Friday 2013

This year it's not as crazy as previous years. Firstly, stores start to open as early as 6pm. Secondly, many good deals were already offered online up to a week prior to Black Friday. I had 2 extra jobs this time - bringing our work visitor to experience Black Friday at the same time, driving my Director and others around too. Was an interesting Black Friday store visit this time. Anyhow, we covered Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Sony Direct. Lines were anywhere between 400-600 people, but it was rather an orderly entry (unlike years past where people would run and push as soon as doors open).

See you Tahmeena!

Tahmeena has been our executive administrative assistant for the last 6 years. One of the 2 Queen's English speaking colleague of mine (apart from Robbie who moved from the UK 2 years ago), she has been such great help with our day to day stuff and always enjoy our conversations about anything at all.

Wishing her luck on her new venture with a UK company looking to expand in the US. But she won't be that far away since she lives in the same community as I do :) See you again.

Bye bye Ikeda-san :(

We had a farewell gathering for Ikeda-san at Capri Blu on 29 Oct 2013. What a surprise when he brought his wife and also 2.5month old baby girl Rino-chan. Rino-chan looks exactly like her daddy, much to her mummy's disappointment..ehhehe. But such a quiet baby, looking around curiously throughout the gathering.

Man, 7 years went by so quickly and it's time to say goodbye to Ikeda-san. Ikeda-san is definitely one of my favourite bosses. Given the nick name Nick or Niku 肉, he was initially Home Audio Business Planning Manager, then also took over Bluray. Funny in his own quiet way and very humble, I learnt a lot from him while working under him in 2007 - 2010 when he took over the Bluray category. And enjoyed late night non work conversations..always about travel etc. Then moved on to Channel Business Planning, overlooking Home Audio and Video and most recently the tough challenging business of TV until the time he left.

Definitely superman, or should I say Super Nick, he is awesome at what he does and contributed so much to He had done a lot for my career and my opportunity to stay in the US, something I will be forever grateful.

It's sad that one by one expatriates come and go, and he is the 4th one who has been in our team previously in these 5 months to leave SEL. We will definitely miss him as he returns to Tokyo with his family.
