Away...

On board the SQ from LAX back to KUL. Glad to finally be going home after a very stressful week (plus unnecessarily stress). Time to clear the mind, do some thinking for decisions in the coming year. Looking forward to family time, meeting up with friends and lots of good food!

Happy Holidays!

Dr.Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost

Got an invite from the Overseas Singapore Unit to attend one of the Singapore Buzz events in the US - a session with Dr.Leslie Tay of the famed 'ieatishootipost' foodie blog. Attended the 1st session of Hawker Food Culture in LA (2nd in Seattle and 3rd in San Francisco) at the historic Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA. Rather gastronomic, comical and very informative session by the doctor, who is a real life doctor with a clinic in Tampines and the rest of the time a foodie. He has also co-hosted some TV shows on Singapore TV. We hope he will make a trip to San Diego some time.

Kuih lapis episode

Lots of work, steaming each colored layer one by one. Definitely fragrant with the pandan, but not that green. Used coconut cream instead of milk and 1/3 less sugar that the recipe but prolly need to change the 80/20 ratio of the tapioca/rice flour for next try so that it's not that chewy perhaps?
