*EDIT* at very bottom of post...
I know some of you have heard the rumors:
I know some of you have heard the rumors:
We are moving soon.
We don’t know where we are going to move to.
We are looking for a new job again.
We are pregnant.
This is a very long post.
They are all true, so here are the details as of now (and there are a lot). Some thoughts have come from my journal in the last few weeks. I’ve had a hard time writing up this post as it is quite complicated. Kleenexes may be necessary for those who fall under the categories of Moms, Aunts, Grandmas or pregnant women. :)
During our married life (wow 5 years next month!!!) Mike and I have had to take steps of faith into the dark many times, before we come to the light again. ("We had a good time") This seems to happen all too often in my mind, as I don’t like change.
Mike’s current job came at the perfect timing last summer. After being unemployed most of 2010 and then taking off to Colorado for 3 months for work, we were so grateful to just be back in Vernal and have a job. But, this job still isn’t the best for our family. It’s still a lineman construction job. Construction means going where the work is. When we took the job we were under the impression that there was a lot of work locally, but the last few months have shown otherwise. In November he was gone for a couple weeks between Wyoming and Kansas. Then in December he was back in Kansas for a couple weeks. This month he was also gone for a week in Kansas. And there is still lots more work coming up there, but we’re not sure when he’s heading back out. With that said, we just really need a stable, city lineman job where he can come home at night, be home with our family and really have time to study for his apprenticeship. Also so Madi doesn’t have to go through Daddy withdrawals. (Click HERE if you really want to cry) Although I’m pretty sure my parents have enjoyed this Kansas schedule, as Madi and I always come to visit when Mike leaves. Mike’s trying to put a stop to that though. :)
Mike did apply for an apprentice lineman job opening in Bountiful in November, had an interview in December and made it to the top 4. I was not too happy at all about the thought of moving into a big, crammed city. I love small towns. I felt anxiety about the very thought of it, yet I would do it because I knew that Mike would be home at nights and we wouldn’t be dealing with his trips to Kansas. While Mike was so close to getting the job, Heavenly Father still had a different plan for us. He knows what is best for us and knew that even though we desperately wanted that city job, it wasn’t right for us at the time.
To throw in another twist, on December 29, 2011 we received an e-mail from the couple we are renting from thanking us for house-sitting and also asking us to find a new place in the next couple of months. They will be home from their mission at the end of February. They didn’t give us a specific date to move out by, but we feel we should be out before they get home. That way they can have their whole house back to re-unite with their family and we won’t be in the way.
Wow, we weren’t sure what to think about this change, but it’s time. We have lived here for over 3 years and have loved every minute, but it’s time to move on once again.
We are planning on being out of here by February 18. 18 more days. As to where we are going, we don’t have a clue! Finding somewhere to rent is almost impossible. Prices are crazy and everywhere I call is already full. (Thanks to the oil booming here in Vernal again.) We are starting to look into these options we were checking out when we first moved to Vernal. (Click HERE) The other problem is lots of people want you to sign a long-term contract (6 months or 1 year, etc..) Buying a home right now is also out of the question because house prices in Vernal are ridiculously high (due to oil…) and we aren’t planning on staying here because we are also on the hunt for a new job…again!!!
On January 4, the Elders Quorum President and another Brother from our ward stopped by to visit. They came to see how we were doing and if we needed any help with the upcoming move. We told them all about our situation and our dilemmas in renting or buying. Also the fact that we need a better job so we can be together more.
The Elders Quorum President shared a quote from Elder Eyring about keeping our covenants and that we will receive blessings. The Brother left us with a prayer that really touched me. He mentioned all the things we were in need of and I felt the Spirit strongly. Although once again there is so much unknown in the future and our decisions seem impossible, I know that we just need to have faith and trust in the Lord. We have been in similar situations and things have always worked out.
Two days later, on January 6, I started checking for apprentice lineman job openings again for Mike. I called Spanish Fork City, who I had not been able to reach yet. I actually got through to the superintendent of the line department and he said they had an apprentice lineman position open up THAT DAY! I couldn’t believe it! I tried not to sound too overly ecstatic as I thanked him for this information. I hope and pray that this is the city job that we have been waiting for! I like the thought of living there a lot better than Bountiful! There is still some space! Not quite like Vernal, but not a tight packed city like Bountiful. Just the day before, I was thinking there was no way we were going to find a city job soon, and I know we don’t have this one yet, but at least it’s another chance!!! The last few years it has been rare to come across apprentice lineman job openings for cities.
Last Friday we received an e-mail from Spanish Fork saying they are reviewing applications and will begin interviews toward the end of the next week. Mike called me this afternoon and asked if we had any plans on Friday. I told him only if we go to Spanish Fork for an interview. Then he told me that we will be going!!! He has an interview at 8:40 AM!!! I was so excited I think I squealed with delight into the phone!
Regardless of where we move to, our home is mostly packed and it’s actually been a lot of fun thanks to Bethany’s tips on packing! I am not stressed out at all about packing and feel very organized. Thanks for sharing your ideas Bethany!!!
We are hoping with every ounce in us that we will get this job, yet if we don’t we know things will work out and there will be something else for us. I know we will find another place to live here in Vernal if needed. While this time is incredibly scary or “another adventure” as my Dad would say, and there is so much unknown that will be happening in the next few weeks, overall I have felt at peace. I think we have learned through similar experiences that have happened to us in the last few years that we just need to have faith and trust in the Lord, even when things gets really, really hard and He will take care of us. Everything is in the Lord’s timing and He cares about each of us.
Prayers are welcome and thanks so much to those who have been praying for us!!!
On a happy pregnant note, I am almost 24 weeks along and thank goodness feeling great, considering the move and such that is happening. As of now, we have no idea what we are going to name Baby Boy Janowicz. He likes to kick and move a lot, which I LOVE. That’s got to be one of the most special parts about pregnancy…my favorite!
*** OH NO! Just found out today that Mike is supposed to be heading for Kansas on the 16th...a couple days before we are supposed to move...and he would be gone over our 5th anniversary!!! Are ya kiddin' me!?!??!!?
HOPEFULLY we won't be with this company anymore then...but we'll see!***
