- Sleeping through the night. She usually goes to bed around 8:30 or 9:00 and wakes up around 6:00.
- She loves her crib for nighttime sleeping- but still naps best in the swing or bouncy seat.
- We are still swaddling her at night. When she is trying to go to sleep sometimes she fights the swaddle and gets mad, but once she settles down she’s OUT.
- When she wakes in the morning she is so happy. It’s her favorite time!
- Eating every 3 to 4 hours during the day. If she is napping when it hits the 3 hour mark I just let her sleep!
- Some newborn clothes still fit but she is long so if they snap in the crotch they don’t fit anymore. Her sleepers that are 0-3 months that are a little big around the sleeves are long but fit perfectly in the length.
- Size 1 diapers are a must. Pampers are our favorite.
- Hattie found her voice this month and is content to makes noise and smile while awake. She doesn’t want her paci unless she’s sleepy. Then when she gets almost asleep she spits it out.
- Hattie loves to be held and rocked but is very content to lay on her playmat, in the bouncy seat, or in the swing as long as she’s not super sleepy.
- She is making all kinds of sounds – grunting, oohing, and ahhing.
- Smiling is still her favorite and it’s very gummy! Now when she smiles she makes funny little noises that will evolve into laughing I’m sure.
- Hattie is very curious. It seems that she’s finally able to see the dogs because she will watch them and track them when they move.
- She still loves her car seat. In fact, sometimes when she’s uncomfortable with her tummy hurting, I put her in there and that helps solve the problem.
- At 12 weeks she weighed 8 pounds and 11 ounces.
- When we visited with the pediatrician, she couldn’t believe that Hattie was sleeping in her own room—and through the night.

Happy Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and to my very own --- the most wonderful Mother!! A mother’s love is like no other. Everyone says it- but it’s so hard to understand.
And Happy Mother’s Day to my mother-in-law as well!! Thank you for raising the man I love- and Hattie’s daddy!
And this is where I share my feelings---- where I get real. If you don’t want to read real…………… stop reading NOW!
For the last few years I dreaded this day.
I love my mother, I love my friends who are mothers, but I wanted to be a mother so bad. It wasn’t my time. God had a plan for my life and being a Mom wasn’t in his plan for me in years past.
This morning I woke up so grateful for Hattie Fate and the gift that God has entrusted me to be her Mom.
It is a day full of emotion though.
My heart breaks for my friends who yearn to be a mother so bad. Even though I have a little dear to hold today, I will never forget the hurt my heart felt in years past. I love to see the mothers and babies dressed up going to church, but have prayed for a child of my own to dress in Sunday finest and take to church. Today, I got to do that. As I sat in church and throughout the day today, I’ve prayed (and cried) for those sweet friends and know that God has a plan for their life too, just as he did mine. His timing isn’t the same as ours, and we have to be mindful of that.
Those who have lost their Moms are on my heart today as well. Praying for you today as you remember your mother fondly!
Here’s to Moms past, present, and future!

Gum Tree
The second weekend in May has always meant Gum Tree Arts Festival for my family. For many years, Dad was on the board so our family spent time at Gum Tree my whole life. Today we walked around Gum Tree—it was a beautiful day!
While we were there we ran into this cutie!!and this sweet lady finally got her hands on Hattie!
We didn’t buy any art, but had a wonderful day strolling around!
10 Weeks
Well.... I survived my first week back at school. The kiddos were super glad to see me, and my classroom was well taken care of in my absence. It was just like I had only been gone a few days.
I didn't cry - but the fact that Hattie stayed home with KK made it a much easier transition.
Hattie attended her first wedding this past weekend and was wonderful. My cousin Anne got married in a beautiful ceremony under the tabernacle at their church.
She wore her coming home dress and it fit much better this time. At her weight check on Wednesday she tipped the scales at a whopping 7 pounds and 13 ounces!
Josh was super sweet and sent flowers on Monday- that made the day even better. I went home and crashed after school.
Smartphone technology made my days much better too because I would get sweet pictures of my girl.
7 and a half more school days until summer!!

Anne & Michael Get Married
Last Saturday morning we loaded the car and headed to Shiloh to see my cousin Anne get married!!We went by Mamaw’s first and Uncle Dan and Aunt Nancy met Hattie. We had a great visit, changed into our wedding clothes—and headed to the tabernacle.
AAnne and Michael got married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony and then we got to visit with lots of friends.
We took a family picture of the Murff family that was in attendance.
Kristen and Tinley met us at the reception. The South in downtown Jackson is the coolest venue!! I had never been to an 11:00 wedding but the reception was so neat with brunch!
This is Anne the B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L bride! I didn’t get a picture of the groom but he was there—and so sweet!
Happy and long life to Anne and Michael.
