Also -- because I am fundamentally incapable of posting about just one thing at a time -- I wish to note that the linguaphiles "is your name Ben?" thread yesterday was the most hilarious thing I have participated in in recent memory, and I was sad when the (probably very embarrassed) OP deleted it.
But the maintainer saved screencaps. All is not lost! I'm there on page 2 with Old English, which was the only language I knew (or rather, could piece together quickly) that hadn't been done yet. By the time it occurred to me to come back with Middle English, which I could probably also figure out (I like the word "yclept," don't you?) the post was gone.
(And no one actually answered the OP's question. Heh.)
Those of you who know me know that I have had pretty much the same hairstyle since, oh, high school. Earlier than high school, even. My hair is dark blond, curly, and has generally been very long -- usually somewhere between my shoulders and mid-back. Never really had much of a style, although occasionally I have had it layered.
I, uh, went to one of those haircutting places at the mall and got it all cut off. Yeah. I'm sort of surprised too. And I didn't cry! At all!
I think it makes me look pretty much like a big ol' dyke. Which, you know, I'm good with. I wasn't expecting it -- the picture I pointed out to the stylist was a very straight-girl version. I tried describing it as kind of a Leonardo-diCaprio-in-Titanic thing, but she was too young to remember that. Bah. But, look, I got the gay version. (Jen thinks I got Rachel Maddow's haircut, which I totally didn't do on purpose.) It's a haircut that my brother has often had, although it's not the one he currently has. I figured it'd probably look okay on account of how we have the same basic headshape. I am pleased.
I feel like now I need new glasses, or something.
Tune in later this week, when I semi-permanently dye it light brown for a Hallowe'en costume that no one in RL will recognize. (Costume whining to follow in another post.)
Okay, I think that's enough about my hair for right now.
[ETA: I just called my mother and emailed her some pictures, and the first words out of her mouth were "You got Rachel Maddow's haircut." And then she told me she got the same haircut yesterday. Hmm.]
I saw some lolcat ads on my way to the Campus Center yesterday. This was the best one.

Also, I have just purchased tickets for me and lysimache to go see Erin McKeown *and* Melissa Ferrick (with Alix Olson opening, I think) on New Year's Eve. Hooray. (They went on sale a few days ago, so the really good seats are sold already, *pout*, but it should still be very fun. Now lysimache knows what she's getting for our anniversary at the end of December.)
I'm sure you all want pictures of weird things I saw at the library today, right? Well, here's one. (Someday I should take a picture of the "I voted for Coolidge" sticker.)
Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe
Yes, this is a real book. Seen at the local library, next to some other books about good ol' Edgar Allen.
I was jealous of lysimache's picspams yesterday, so I thought I would finally get around to posting this picture I took, like, a year ago. Better late than never.
I am R. A. B.
Graffiti seen at the campus library. Isn't fandom awesome?
Grew up in CA (duh!); the NV/WA trips were various family vacations and whatnot, as was the road trip from Texas to Indiana/Illinois. lysimache is making smug faces at me because the fact that I visited most of the East Coast is entirely her fault. (Except I'd gone to NC first without her, and was visiting grad school here without her. But she says that is minor and irrelevant.)
I need to visit more states.

Yeah, the "go to Shi'ar space" issues (1, 2, 5, 7), while Brisson was doing the ones with story on Earth with the Beak family. Although I think they co-wrote #1. They've got a "New Mutants by…
I think Hickman's not going to be writing any more New Mutants, that it was just him doing that one story in the first arc... That's what I've seen said anyway. Not 100% if that's correct.
