My cool parents and their cool projects...

Last month when Ray left to go to the Michigan game, I headed home to hang out with my family and help out at the Cedar Livestock and Heritage Festival. The livestock and heritage festival is this really cool thing they do in Cedar to honor and display the rich livestock heritage they have there. It is a two day hoo-haw with a concert, parade, tractor pulls, dutch-oven cook off, sheep dog competition, and more. It has been going on for about 4 years and my mom has been on the committee from the very beginning. The dream team (My Mom, Aunt Carol, and JoNell) have been in charge of the parade and the sweet shirts that they sell. It is a lot of fun to watch and I think that it is a really neat thing.. I'm so proud of my Mom!

The Dream Team

There is always an entry in the parade that consists of a whole bunch of sheep camps, some dating back to 100 years old. After the parade, all of the sheep camps are taken out to the Diamond Z Arena and displayed for everyone to see. This year, my Dad was so excited to be able to display his newly restored sheep camp, or "cow camp" as we call it (we don't have any sheep). He was given a really old sheep camp that was in really bad shape, and he took the whole thing apart and completely rebuilt it. I wish I had a "before" picture so that you could see the work that really went into this thing, but he pretty much built it from scratch, everything besides that base and the wheels. As you can see below, it is absolutely beautiful, and I continue to be amazed at the things my Dad can do.

Hangin' out...

Me and my Dad

This is my Grandpa's 1956 GMC that we used to pull the cow camp in the parade. I told him it was a cute truck, and he said "it's not cute, it's a work truck." That just proves what a hard-A he is :)

This is for Mindi...

Ray works at Albertson's so we not only get the preferred card discounts, but we also get another 15% off of any Albertson's brand item. Albertson's is having a big sale right now for Thanksgiving and they are giving their employee's an extra 10% off of their entire purchase, plus we filled a couple perscriptions there and they gave us a coupon for 20% off our entire purchase. So tonight we went and raided the place... Mindi, you will be so proud :)

Total amount paid: $151.78
Total savings: $199.94

Brothers Weekend

Last month Ray and his brothers took a weekend out of their hectic schedules and flew from all over the country to go to a Michigan Football game in the "Big House". They are all huge fans of the University of Michigan and this is the first time they have been able to go to a game, plus they don't all end up in the same place very often so it was good for them to get to hang out.

Michigan's starting quarterback is Tate Forcier, so everyone always brings signs that say "May the forcier be with you." Well, Ray really wanted to be on TV so as you can see below he took a Darth Vadar costume and made a sign that said "Tate I am your father." Haha he is such a nerd.. The camera guy did actually film him, but it never made it to ESPN :)

Birthday's

Ray's birthday was October 28th and mine is November 11th... exactly two weeks apart, so we've been celebrating a lot of birthday's around here lately. Ray turned 25 and for his birthday we went to Pizza Hut for dinner (his absolute favorite food in the whole world) and then Alan and Emily came over for cake and ice cream and games.

It was my 21st birthday and my parents came up just to take me to lunch! I was so surprised and it was so good to see them! We went and ate at a little Mexican restaurant here in Pocatello and then I drove them around and showed them the town. They only stayed for a couple of hours but I was so excited! How cool is that, that they drove all the way up here just so they could see me on my birthday? Later Ray and I went to Lava Hot Springs and then ate at a Thai restaurant and then made chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Birthday's are always so fun and it's kinda fun for us to be able to celebrate them so close together :)

Wanted: Big Green Garbage Can

So, I'm sitting in class today and I get a text from Ray that says... "Any idea where our big garbage can out front went?" I figured he would find it in a couple minutes, that it had just blown down the street or something... But, no... it is really gone. Ray remembered the last thing that he threw away so he walked down the street looking into garbage cans trying to find ours, but no luck. So, when I got home from school I called the Sanitation place to find out the number of our garbage can, and then I walked around the street trying to find our big green bundle of joy. Still no luck... Hopefully we find it because I really don't want to have to pay for another one, but I'm sure all of our neighbors are getting a kick our of watching us check out everyone's garbage cans :)
