Soccer
Soccer is in full swing and it's great watching Elly this year. This is the third year Elly has played and she has developed in to a little kicker roo!
It still is quite hilarious watching the kids sometimes...I know mean. But when they kick the ball and woof they miss...haha!
Oh no you didn't...I can kick that way further.

Sticks and Stones
Keeping it real...
You know that old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me." I dare to argue with that. Whomever did come up with that must have really thick skin. I think my skin is super delicate, like newborn-baby delicate. I cry at the drop of a hat, emotional or not. When my sister and niece boarded the plane last month, tears were flowing. When dropping Emmy off for the first time at daycare, oh ya...tears POURED! Elly's first day of kindergarten? You betcha. You get my drift.
So lately, without going into much detail, things have been hard. Thank goodness I have Jon, Elly and Emmy to distract me from an ongoing feud we are having with family. Fights are extra hard when you are an adult, you don’t get to call someone a poo poo head and run and get a teacher, that teacher makes you play jump rope together and by the end of recess the poo poo comment is long forgotten. No, you have to do the right thing, you have to be the bigger person. As hard as it is to get a nasty email and not write back something as vicious/vulgar/hateful and mean you delete it and move on. Nothing good comes out of writing back and I have two little girls looking up to me and watching my every move. If I were to write back or even speak the words that pop in my head out loud, what does that say about me? I want to teach them to take the high road, life is too short. I want them surrounded by good, positive, happy people and things. People who can write and speak hurtful things will not be around me or my girls. Family or not, period. This is a hard lesson and I’ve fought with myself with this decision.
Do I think my girls will come across people who are hurtful and mean, of course I do, I’m not that naïve. Do I think my girls will be hurtful to other people, I’m sure they will. But I do hope that I will have raised them to do the right thing and know that if they are wrong they will make things right. That is my hope.
I’m not saying I’m perfect, I make mistakes…daily. I lost my temper in fact this morning with Elly and making her lunch. On the way to daycare I apologized to her that even Mommy’s make mistakes and that she is sorry. Anyways, without making this any longer...words hurt, I’m not perfect, I will always protect my girls.

Happy Birthday Big J!
Today is Big J's birthday, but we celebrated yesterday. On the agenda was a run, lunch with friends, and chocolate cake. Check, check, and check!
Elly wanted to dress fancy for lunch. Mexican resturant never had such a pretty little 7 year old eating chicken nuggets...sigh.
Lunch with friends, however I didn't get a picture with them...whoops! Thanks Angie, Jesse, Baylee and Logan for celebrating with us. We heart you!
Mmmmm after dinner at home, we had chocolate cake and ice cream...delish!
Big J and his girls, what a lucky guy!

Read to Me
Usually by the time Elly's bedtime rolls around, Emmy is eating so Jon and Elly have their own routine of reading a poem or book before bed. This particular night they decided to let Emmy and I listen too.
Melts my heart...Sarah wanted to listen too.

3 months
3 months old and so full of personality! Last night during her last nursing session before bed, I was chatting with her and told her to have sweet dreams and she did a grunt like, "Shush Mom I'm trying to eat here." HA! God I love her. She is a scooter now, we'll put her down on a blanket and she'll scoot herself right off onto the carpet. Still loathes tummy time and will throw an outright fit after her bath if you don't get her pj's on fast enough. Gives the goofiest grins to big sister and Daddy (see below). Brings us so much joy and love, this last weekend was picture perfect on Mother's Day. Just what I had invisioned with two little girls.

Flying Pig Marathon
Finally I'm getting around to writing about Jon's marathon. Well, it had to happened, Jon had a bad race. Which to a normal person would be a phenomenal race time but for him it was a horrible time. He came in at 3 hours and 44 minutes. From what he says his leg was really bothering him and around mile 16-17 he was forced to walk.
He was in a lot of pain and it breaks my heart that he didn't stop at a medical tent and ask for help.
This picture kills me, he's doing a sort of shuffle, sigh. I wanna scream, "I'll give you a piggy back ride!"

Even though he was in pain, he managed to run the last few feet over the finish line.
Still a finisher, even if he walked. Amazing man!
Not a happy camper, but he's still my hero.
I was panicked the whole time. What is nice about these bigger races is they will text you after a certain mile mark and let you know when your runner is expected to finish. He was on pace to finish before 3 hours, 3 hours come and go and still no Jon, no update, nothing. You can imagine my fear when I hear ambulances and see stretchers with sweaty runners on them. I felt like a chicken with her head cut off pushing the stroller in circles and holding Elly's hand with my other hand trying to find a good spot to see Jon. Finally I get a text that he finished and then another 15 minutes go by and I still can't find him. I nearly was in hysterics when I finally hear him yell my name. He was limping towards me and I was so happy to see him. Despite having a bad race he was in high spirits. He had a MRI last week and we'll find out sometime this week what exactly is injured, pray he doesn't have to have surgery...please. For my sanity too. =)

Running Adventures
Jon won another race last weekend...so what else is new? HA! Kidding, it's still pretty exciting everytime to me! Amazing. This time he won a year membership to a local gym. Way to go Big J!
This weekend Jon's running journey is taking us to Cincinnati for the Flying Pig Marathon. We are all pretty excited, I've never been to Cincinnati and while there I'll get to hang out with Cameron and love on her sweet baby Presley. Can't wait!
