Mann vs. Machine (abbreviated as MvM, MVM, or Mvm) was a temporary gamemode that was available during the April Fool's Day 2022 event.

Unlike most gamemodes in the Server Browser, this gamemode featured a introduction board along with a requirement for players to queue for a round; if a queue did not end within 30 seconds, it reset.

The board displayed an image of a Sentry Buster from Team Fortress 2 and that a maximum of six players can join the same session. A warning was displayed to alert players with photosensitive epilepsy, as the skybox during the boss fight could potentially trigger seizures.

Beating Mann vs. Machine during the event would reward players with 11 Funds, the Fool's Fandango cosmetic, and one Tour Token.

Gameplay

Upon joining a session, players would spawn in Telamon Castle. Pressing O would allow players to "ready up" as their selected class, with that class then stating their respective "Go Go Go!" voicelines.

The UI would then indicate that players would have to fight 24 Zombies, 24 Guests, 5 Wheelies, and 1 Gigantic Zombie for 7 total waves. However, this does not happen.

10 seconds after all players in the server readied up, players screens turned translucent black, as all players were teleported to the top of the map, with purple text in chat displaying "Y̴̺̊o̴̙̿u̴͔̒ ̴̠̓d̴̖͐ï̷̩d̵̰͠n̸͈̄'̷̡͌t̸̛̮ ̵̼͘h̷͗ͅa̷͙͋v̴͕͝e̶͙͆ ̸͚̆t̵̝̀o̶̰͝ ̶̞̂d̶̥́ȯ̴̗ ̷͈̄t̵̥̔h̶̼̑i̶͉̓s̴̼̕ ̷̨̚a̶̺̋g̸̟̓ã̶̰i̷̺͑n̶͖̑". Afterwards, Trollge appeared, displaying the Cross of Saint Peter in chat:

before stating, "I'm gonna troll you once and for all.", after which, the battle begun.

Trollge had multiple methods of attack, including launching rockets that dealt 84 damage each in bursts of 3 and spawning lasers at ground level that dealt 33 damage per tick. Trollge turned greatly more aggressive and faster-to-attack once they became low on health.

Defeating Trollge caused them to lie horizontally before turning all white and disappearing, with laughs echoing afterwards.

If all players were eliminated before Trollge was defeated, it jumpscared players through players screens dimming to nothing with a faint red static afterwards. The session would then restart to give player's another attempt.

Trollge's Dialogue

Trollge would display miscellaneous dialogue mid-battle in chat, one for each attack. Each dialogue line would play a loud ringing noise.

Trivia

• This gamemode was made to mock players who demanded the actual Mann vs. Machine to be added to Typical Colors 2.
  • Despite this, it has been confirmed that an actual MVM-style gamemode was considered at some point, as there is a video showcasing MVM-related zombie NPCs.
• The icon was taken from the TF2 Mvm Sniper Menu Pic decal on the Creator Marketplace.
• Most of music used was taken from assorted video games:
  • The music that played when Trollge first appeared was taken from Bowser's boss fight from Super Mario World.
  • The music that played during the fight itself was taken from an unused Undertale soundtrack titled mus_f_part3.
  • The music that played when Trollge was defeated was taken from a Earthbound soundtrack titled Giygas Disintegrates.
  • The laugh was taken from Kefka's Laugh from Final Fantasy 6.
• Selecting Brute in the Class selection screen would automatically kill players and switch them to Annihilator, doing this would bypass the class limit.
