Kitchen Remodel: Part 2 - Demo

Demo was more work than expected...We took everything down to the studs and removed the soffit.

I think this was the first day. It doesn't look like much, but there is a lot of sheet rock.
Day 4 of demo. I really wanted to hold onto the sink for as long as possible.

Demo was actually fun. Hauling the scrap out of the kitchen was not fun.

During this process we created a temporary kitchen in our current dining room. This allowed us to heat up the food that our families made for us (thanks guys!).

Kitchen Remodel: Part 1 - The Old

Dave here...Ever since moving into our house in 2006 we have been talking about redoing the kitchen. We did not like the layout and thought it could really be improved.

Well, we finally pulled the trigger and started it this year. We are pretty far along in the process (all appliances are pretty much back in working order) so we thought it would be a good time to show the process via photos. Here are some vintage 1983 kitchen photos from just before demo.

North Wall - Notice the good ole electric stove

South Wall - This highlights the soffit limiting the cabinet height.

East Wall - The opening is goes to the dinning room.

Snack of the Week: Part XI (I Heart Snacks)

These Edy's Fruit Bars are super good (and generally, not too bad for you)! I decided to try them as an alternative to eating ice cream at night.

There are a lot of flavors including Blueberry, Strawberry, Lemonade, Lime, Pomegranate and Tangerine. Here's a list of all of them. I've had the Strawberry, Lemonade and Lime ones. While they are all good for different reasons, I'm enjoying the Strawberry one right now. I bet when summer comes around, the Lemonade ones will sound good.

30 Rock

You know you watch too much 30 Rock when...you have a dream that you accidentally broke Tina Fey's glasses!

We've been watching 30 Rock and it's so funny. I pretty much stopped watching network TV after "Friends" (that was in 2004). I never used to be an Alec Baldwin fan but he's hilarious. I've always been a Tina Fey fan - she's funny, smart, pretty and extremely nerdy.

Now, off to relax and watch some 30 Rock.

Song of Songs

Sorry, I've been bad about blogging lately. We're in the middle of remodeling our kitchen so hopefully will get back to blogging soon. I'll post pictures too. Anyway...

Our church has been reading Song of Songs and it's been great. Basically, the book is about love between King Soloman and his bride. I've never liked reading the old testament but Pastor Steve has done a really nice job explaining the book.

Dave and I are really getting into this book to strengthen our marriage. Here's a link to the sermons http://www.hopecc.com/sundays/sermons.html if you're interested (highly recommended for anyone dating, engaged or married)!
