This Kid Loves Bath Time

Elijah has loved bath time from day 3 on earth.  It's even more fun now because he likes to splash around and play with his bath toys.  Here are some pictures from a couple of week ago.

Best Friend Points

Elijah gets cooler and cooler as he grows up (he's 8 months as of yesterday).  I tell Dave that he better watch out - Elijah may be my new best friend.  Sure, my potential best friend has me change his diaper and feed him all of the time but whatever.  So to keep Dave on his toes, I tell Dave he needs to keep earning "best friend points" or Elijah will pass him up!
My rising BFF loves to eat.  We have a lot in common.
Mom's competition, Josie.  Elijah thinks she's pretty cool.
What am I supposed to do if this alliance forms?  (Sorry, Dave, it looks like the last picture I took of you and Elijah is 2 months old.)

Board Games: Part I (Puerto Rico)

I thought it would be fun to start a new blog label titled "Board Games".  Basically, I will feature a fun board game and encourage "The Benson's Blog" nation to play it. My entire life, I've always enjoyed playing board games.  Some of my favorite games growing up include Monopoly, Trump and Sweet Valley High.  I'm not sure if the hubby actually likes board games but he does play with me.  FYI - this anonymous conversation was actually us.

Now for the first featured game...drum roll...

Puerto Rico is a 3 - 5 player game but there is an official variant to the game for 2 players, so that's what we play since Elijah doesn't follow the rules and would eat the doubloons and colonists.  The goal of the game is to collect the most victory points.  It sound extremely nerdy - doubloons, colonists, victory points, captain phase, etc.  It's a fun, strategic game but requires lots of reading of the rules (thank goodness for the hubby because I don't read rules).  I like it because it requires strategy but not too much  Try it, it's a fun game

Elijah Eating

For the most part, Elijah is a good eater.  However, recently, he started spraying us with the food which makes eating more difficult.  It's a challenge not to laugh...

We've Got Ourselves a Growler

We were celebrating Easter with Dave's family. Sitting around the dinner table, Elijah starts growling in his high chair, people laugh. We thought this growling was normal but apparently not. :)

Then last weekend too, we hung out with Josie (3 weeks younger than Elijah) and her family. And they start laughing because of his growling. Josie doesn't growl. We got so used to our timber wolf growling all of the time...

Anonymous Conversation Between a Husband and Wife...

It's been a while. Here are some more anonymous conversations...just a reminder that these are anonymous and are not just Dave and I. :)

***
Husband (Upset, groans): I can't go to bed because the sheets aren't on. Why do you always have to wash the sheets?

Wife: The baby spit up all over them!

Husband: Not on my side.
***
Tip for the wives out there - start referring to yourself as "Queen" in the 3rd person while talking to the hubby. You'll get a great reaction.
***
Wife: Are you mad at me?

Husband: Of course not. I don't hold grudges like you do.

More 7 Month Pictures

Elijah is getting more and more fun. Still super cute (to us...). He's a happy, smiley baby. :)
Elijah in his artsy hat from Auntie Stephanie. Also, he went on a swing for the first time and didn't know what to think (looked scared most of the time).

Cutie pie.

This kid is getting big!

Both pictures - typical Elijah.

Both pictures - typical Elijah. Likes to not smile for the camera.
Eating Auntie Stephanie. Sorry.

Elijah always crosses his feet - too cute!
WHAT A STUD! Doesn't he look like such a big boy? He's grown so much this week...no joke.

Microsoft Excel

One night I was working on an awesome MS Excel spreadsheet. We play the card game 500 with our friends, The Benson's (confused?). In the game, you play to 500 points but we keep running point total since 2010. I was revising the spreadsheet to make it more user friendly. I had a formula question for the hubby. He said he would help. I come back from the bathroom and he's going to town, exceling it up:

One of the formulas looks like this:
=IF(OR($C34=$C$2,$C34=$C$3),IF(ISNUMBER(VALUE(LEFT($B34,1)))=TRUE,IF($D34>=IF(LEFT($B34,1)="1",10,VALUE(LEFT($B34,1))),INDEX($E$2:$E$23,MATCH($B34,$B$2:$B$23,0)),-INDEX($E$2:$E$23,MATCH($B34,$B$2:$B$23,0))),IF($D34>0,-INDEX($E$2:$E$23,MATCH($B34,$B$2:$B$23,0)),INDEX($E$2:$E$23,MATCH($B34,$B$2:$B$23,0)))),IF(ISNUMBER(VALUE(LEFT($B34,1)))=TRUE,(10-$D34)*10,$D34*10))
Hours later, we have a pretty cool spreadsheet that minimizes data entry errors, graphs important stats and summarizes the total. Thanks, Dave!

Backwards Scooter

Elijah is starting to move around. He recently started to roll both directions (back-to-front and front-to-back) - he actually learned how to do both at the same time. Also, he started to scoot backwards. It's hilarious, we put a toy an arm's length away and then he tries to go for it but ends up backing away from it...haha.
Innocent Elijah? I was getting his bottles ready for daycare and when I left him, he was laying on his back, playing on the mat.

Like Mother, Like Son?

I see "Like Father, Like Son" between Dad and Elijah. But there are a lot of resemblances between Elijah and me:
We both enjoy eating. A lot.
We both enjoy sleeping and napping. Friday night he slept for 12 hours and then woke up yawning...and then was ready for a nap in less than two hours.

We both enjoy playing...

We both enjoy cheering for the Twins. (Notice my crazy green outfit, wore it to see if Dave would say anything - nope.)

We both love daddy.

Superhero E-man to the Rescue

E-man doesn't get his nickname for a random reason. He loves being a superhero and flying around (we are jealous of this skill). Here are some pictures of him in-flight. Jealous.

"Need a breather." - E-man

"Catch me if you can." - E-man

Proud of himself, after fighting a day of crime in the Benson house.

Torii Hunter Tweet

...and wishing he was still playing for the Minnesota Twins.

Torii Hunter
My alarm went off in my house while I was in it. 20mins later I saw cops checking out the scene. Went outside and they drew there guns on me. They didn't believe I lived here in Newport coast so they walked me upstairs at gunpoint to get my ID. When I showed him my ID, he said I'm an angel fan hope u guys have a great season. ARE U KIDDING ME!!!!!! Lol

Hey Twitterland! I'm not upset that the cops did their job today. I'm actually glad they were protecting home.
