Happy Birthday, Mom

Dick and Marty hosted us for a simply great birthday dinner to celebrate Grandma's birthday in Rochester. Katie was at work so missed being in the picture, but Lauren was home. The corn on the cob melted in your mouth. Ummm. I had a couple better pictures, but Sue blinked.

Some Vacation Images

Check out here a sample of our time in Virginia. First is the Air and Space Museum at Dulles (SR-71, Enola Gay, etc)

Elizabeth took Dave to Luray Cavers out in the Shenandoah Valley about an hour from DC.

A few other museum sites near there.

Biked a few times to Ft. Myer next to Arlington. This below is the other "Tomb of the Unknowns" which marks the burial place of 2, 111 from the Battle of Bull Run and the route to the Rappahannock.

Union Station - I'd not been inside before.

One of my favorite trails out to Bethesda.

If there's a used bookstore ... Elizabeth will find it!

Fort Foote and Fort Washington (Maryland) on the east bank of the Potomac River. Amazed to find these huge Rodman 15" canon still out in the woods unmoved since the Civil War.

These other pictures are of Fort Washington ... which we had to ourselves.

Traveled down to visit Rachel, Adam, and their adorable Adeline in Richmond.

Sample of Elizabeth's automobile mastery. :)

Had a great reunion with Rich and Sandi. Spend all of Sunday, August 7, with them. Rich is doing great after his heart surgery, adjusting to retirement, and getting me to "think."

Honors at Arlington

From Fort Myer one can often see the formalities for the burial of one of our military. I purposely stayed out of view which accounts for the odd camera angle. But these honors were for an Air Force officer (hence, no Cap Walker--riderless horse). I regretted the very out-of-place tour bus in the background, but you get the general sense.

Ride Through Arlington

Some of you have heard me tell of riding my bike through Arlington National Cemetery starting at Fort Myer. This is a sample of that.
