I Love this Brother in Christ
Don Pfannes is God's man. He lives every day in his baptism and the grace of Jesus Christ. All these years I've known Don (at Grace Lutheran Church, Auburn), he has always confessed the wondrous mercy of God through Christ. One never speaks with Don without speaking principally about our redemption and the service we receive from Christ. Don's illness as he contends with ALS is merely a backdrop. The forefront always stays beautifully centered on Jesus. I'll tell you, my spirits are lifted every time Don and I talk brother-to-brother because the substance in those conversations is always the Gospel of what our Lord has done and continues to do for us. Without question, Christian unity under the cross is a beautiful, beautiful thing. And nothing short of a gift from God the Father.
Fresh Perch
One of the benefits of a small town--large church family is the generosity of folks here. Came away from a home visit with the day's catch of fresh perch out of Saginaw Bay. It was great. Thanks to Tom and Kris Koch.

M.O.S.T. Takes Delivery
On Sue's behalf, nearly 3,000, witness bracelets were delivered to the headquarters of Mission Opportunities Short Term. Sue has been making these for about a year as her on personal mission contribution. Approximately 1,000 are needed for each of the MOST mission trips.
Concordia University - North Campus
Concordia (CUAA) has just acquired the campus of the former Cooley Law School (Plymouth and Green), Ann Arbor. The Michigan District Board of Director just met there, so we got a look-see. It is intended to be the location for the new Nursing Program at Concordia.

Lily McGuinness and Family
In 2013, I met Peter and Lily McGuinness and some of their children at Crossaine, Co. Meath, Ireland. They own and live on property once a Weldon farm. My great-grandfather was born there, and I know we were at that spot in 1966. My meeting with Peter and Lily and their hospitality was truly one of the highlights of my journey. Peter, God rest him, has since passed away, but Lily recently sent me this picture of them all taken in the Station House Hotel, Kilmessan. Pictured are all eight of their children in birth order from left to right: Pat, Ann, Aidan, Maura, Tom, Rita, John, and Helen. A handsome family indeed.
