Familiar Sight

This is an insipid photo.  I was just rolling by. However, for anyone living in east central Michigan at this time of year--especially driving US-10 into Bay City, familiarity with the beet trucks is unmistakable.  You can't see the sugar beets in this particular picture which usually pile above the truck rim, but the trucks turn one after another onto Euclid on the way down to the facilities of Michigan Sugar.  And all of Bay City catches the distinctive scent of the sugar process.  Harvest is in high gear.

They Say It Rains in Ireland?

I chanced on this weather map early today, and it caught my attention. It seems about the best evidence why Ireland is green.

Tom and Beth

Tom and Beth from their blog below Mt. Baker.  We've not seen them for six years!  Great picture.  Lousy calendar.

Famous? No, "Infamous"

Great friend, and our Director of Sacred Music, Tom Wegener.  He had taken his car into Labadie's a month ago and they asked if he'd be part of some marketing campaign.  This is on Saginaw Road down in the Dow industrial area.

Greenfield

I skipped out a little early from my conference and drove the two miles to Greenfield Village to catch the last hour with the Unionville gang.  The village was virtually empty of people which made it really enjoyable.  The house here is the one in which Harvey Firestone was raised -- 1880s.

Pumpkin Tree

After her visit to the Pumpkin Farm, I told Lead I thought pumpkins grew on trees.  She told me, "No, they grow on the ground."  Well, surprise!  Grandpa is right.

Unadulterated Happiness

Allison just posted this picture of Leah on Facebook as she is leaving for her first field trip to the pumpkin farm.  There's nothing better than seeing children happy -- which is also something deep in Christian theology.

What Lacy Calls a Perfect Day
