My Talented Daughters

For Christmas this year my girls made gifts for me.

Liz made this cute holiday stack up with sculpey clay.

She made this one a couple of years ago.

Sarah found a cute frame for one of her photos for me.

She also made a book of our Thanksgiving trip to see ICE! at the Gaylord National Harbor. For some reason, these pictures although shot in a landscape mode, load as portrait - weird. I love receiving these gifts showcasing their talents. So proud to be their mom! Love my girls!!!!!!

Family Photos

After all the unwrapping, playing, eating, and napping on Christmas Day, we decided to take some family photos. Sarah received a remote for her camera and this was her first opportunity to try it out.

Ah, sweet love!

Just to show you it wasn't all smiles for the whole time. Abby was done! Look at Izzy's forced smile. Still love those little girls!

We had a fun Christmas day and the photos turned out great! I love spending time with my family!

A Snowy Monday

Gary made it to the bus stop this morning, but no one else was there and no 4 a.m. bus showed up, so he drove back home. Gary and Tony took a chainsaw to a tree that fell across our "road". Evidently it fell between 4:30 and 10:00 a.m. It didn't take them long to clear the road.

We decided to venture out to see if there were any after Christmas deals.

Our little driveway is still snow covered.

Tony and some of the neighbors shoveled our "road" yesterday. It wasn't too bad today.

It looks pretty in the snow, but you don't want to meet anyone coming the other way especially in the snow.

Down the second hill and then

we come to the paved road.

Once we got to the end of our street, we found clear roads awaiting us. We went to lunch at Panera and then did some shopping. It was fun to have Gary home for the day.

Snowfall December 26

We had some snow on Christmas day. It stopped in the evening, then started again on Sunday morning. We were able to make it out for church. We only had Sacrament meeting. We made our way back home and enjoyed a quiet Sunday afternoon together.

I like snow when I don't have to drive in it. If there was just some way to keep the roads clear.

I love looking at the trees covered in snow

We watched White Christmas yesterday too. It is one of our favorite movies.

Sarah, Tony, and Abby braved the roads to go to his parents' house. His sister and brother-in-law were in town. They had a big family sleepover after shoveling the driveway and sledding.

Christmas 2010

Now that the girls are grown and have their own families, we have made some adjustments to our Christmas Eve and Christmas morning routines. It is usually just Gary and I for Christmas Eve since the girls usually spend that with their in laws. We enjoyed a nice quiet evening together. On Christmas morning the girls and their families open their own gifts before joining us. Since Sarah, Tony, and Abby live with us, we stayed in the family room while they had their own family Christmas morning. We ate our traditional breakfast together, breakfast casserole and my mom's crumb top coffee cake. I have had the coffee cake every Christmas that I can remember.
We let Liz know when we were done with breakfast and they loaded up and came over. Lori, Clay's mom came with them too. We always enjoy having Lori over. She's just another member of the family and a good friend too.

My new Nativity set. I still have my old one that Gary bought when our girls were little. It will be one the grandchildren can play with just like their mothers used to do.

Tony and Abby sing Winter Wonderland. They went caroling to friends on Christmas Eve. Tony plays his ukulele, Abby plays her "shakey egg" Abby sings softly along and then Tony stops and lets her fill in the last word of a phrase. Loved hearing her say "conspire"

and her own laptop.

Abby got a computer too.

Funny story here. Izzy unwrapped the gift and said, "Waffles, you gave me waffles." (Izzy loves waffles!) She was ready for her next present then. Aunt Sarah had to explain that she didn't really get waffles. Sarah told her to go ahead and open the box.

Izzy was really happy to find a Princess Tiana dress up outfit inside the waffle box. I think I'll have to get her some waffles though.

Abby's favorite gift - Woody, the cowboy from Toy Story. She has an imaginary friend named Woody and loves all the Toy Story characters. It is good this was her last gift. She kept wanting me to take pictures of her with Woody, Woody's boot, Woody's hat, Woody's hand, . . .

Izzy's last gift was a treasure hunt. Aunt Sarah helped her read her clues. Izzy is getting so good at reading. She was thrilled to find her gift, a pretty necklace. Treasure hunts are one of our fun family traditions. Liz is the best clue writer, so she often gets tasked to write the clues. Thanks Liz!

Did I say that Abby loves Woody?

We had a great Christmas Day together. After all of the presents, we had Lasagna and salad for dinner. Then it was time for naps and playing with the presents. It even started to snow. I love my family!
