Ready for Open House

Gary came in Tuesday after he got home from work and helped me get the desks set up. Then the room really looked small.

It is good enough for Open House, but not what I would like it to be.  It is just going to take time to get everything organized.

My smart board was installed on Tuesday.

I set out textbooks for the students and parents to look at.  Kyvette, one of our amazing para-educators, put up my number line and cursive alphabet for me. Our staff is amazing!

My Cat in the Hat with Thing 1 and Thing 2 are sitting on my file cabinet. My father in law made the chair for me years ago.  <3 p="">

I didn't have time to get the bulletin board done, so I just put up some fun things and it will be a work in progress.

Just about ready

I had to stop organizing and tidy up so the room looked inviting and ready for open house.

I still had boxes out and it is a work in progress, but it would just have to do.

Our staff before Open House.
I work with the most amazing and supportive people.
Open House was successful!  I met 16 of my 26 students.
It is going to be a great year!

Tuesday

We had an amazing team building activity on Tuesday.

We each had a canvas to complete.

We had no idea what the finished picture would be.

It was a fun activity.  We had to make sure our colors were close to the same shade as the others around ours.

We took our assignment seriously.

John went around helping. Denise Eichel, our principal, was going around chatting with everyone.

We had to finish and get ready for some meetings and then we would return to put the paintings together in the afternoon.

Here is my canvas.

Angelica, John's wife and amazing artist called us up in groups of eight to put our canvas in the correct order.

It was fun to watch it come together.

Almost done

The finished creation will be hung in the school for all to see.

Our amazing staff!

Monday

We officially reported to work on Monday August 28.

We had the whole day to set up our rooms.

Unfortunately, most of my stuff still hadn't been delivered to my new room.

Friends and teammates helped me move some of the things in to my new room.

I ended up shoving furniture around myself.

The closet is filling up quickly!!

Still need to get desks arranged and finish the room before our Open House onThursday at 1:30. The big problem is that the next two days are filled with meetings.  Tuesday is meetings at school and Wednesday is county level meetings.

Moving to the Trailer

My principal decided to move the third grade out to the trailers this year.

I'm in a new to us trailer that was added to our "learning cottage village" this summer. We know have six classrooms in trailers.

Here is the new sidewalk for my trailer.

It is a double classroom trailer. Mine is the first one Room 405 and Kaitlyn, our new third grade teacher and recent Salisbury graduate is in Room 406.

Our front door.

Peeking in my room, bathroom on the left. There are two individual bathrooms in the trailer.

My first peek in my new room.

Only a few things have been moved in.

This room is much smaller than I've had for the last eleven years.

There isn't much storage either.

I do have this one nice storage closet.

I'll have to figure out how to set up the room so that it works for me and my students.

Deanna Mingo, our assistant principal, was showing Kaitlyn, my new teammate, around the building.

I had left my posters and bulletin board materials in my old classroom over the summer.

I packed them up and moved them to my new classroom.

Chairs and a few other things had been delivered too.

On this day, there was no power in my room because they had to put in a new transformer.

I've measured furniture, walls and floor spaces and am trying to figure out where to put things.  Although I purged in June, I'm going to have to purge again, because my stuff won't fit in this classroom.  It will all work out.

Wednesday

Last week was our Personal Progress week.

As always, Sarah Reed prepared an amazing activity for the girls.

The girls are so excited to work on their Personal Progress together and enjoy just spending time together.

I arrived home to see that the Aina vehicle was ready to depart on their camping trip.

It takes a lot of gear for 7 people to go camping.  Izzy was able to go with her cousins on the trip.
Once Sarah posts about the trip, I'll create a link to her blog all about their fun adventures.
