I Am

Addie has been loving school. Today she came home from school today and asked if she could write a book. She told me today she read a story called "I Am" and that she wanted to write one of her own about her and Demzi. I wasn't allowed to look at it until she was done but she did have to ask me how to spell some of the words. I love this age that now instead of scribbled sheets or random letters she wants to write whole stories. She told me her name had to be on all of the pages because Demzi might tell people she wrote some of them if not.

The Bed

We finally decided to put Liam into his new bed a week ago. Kris and I have come to realize that we build up these transitions to be such a big deal for our kids and it's really only a big deal for us. When we put Addie in a bed, she played the first night for two hours and every night for the next week we had to put her into bed because she'd fallen asleep on the floor. We just keep expecting it to go more like that. We put him to bed the first night and he was just as excited as could be. He didn't make a peep, just went right to sleep. I was sure the next day was going to be the breaking point, this was going to be the end of all naps. So I took him to bed, he waved, blew kisses with the biggest grin on his face, and then slept for three hours. He loves it, I just have to get used to the fact that now he can roll over and kick the wall first thing in the morning and wake me up. He always was hitting the side of his crib because he moves all over when he sleeps, now he just hits the wall, usually at absurdly early hours so that I can be awake whether he is or not.

Onion Days

Labor Day weekend we always go down to Payson for the Onion Days celebrations. This year we started out on Friday night by going to the carnival.

The cars were a highlight for Liam. The guy running the ride was being nice since I'm pretty sure he wasn't all enough but he let him do it anyway.

I remember when we took Demzi to Lagoon last summer and she wouldn't do anything because it was all too scary so I wasn't sure what she'd think of the rides. She wasn't afraid of any of them but then she never cracked a smile either.

After the carnival we headed to the fireworks, which is the first time we've been to fireworks like that since I was pregnant with Liam. He just watched them all fascinated. Addie was actually the one who didn't love them. She kept coming and asking when they'd be over since she thought they were too loud.

Monday morning we were back in Payson early for the parade. It was a little cold starting out so our kids weren't sure if they wanted to be there or not.
Addie is getting camera shy these days, I told her to show me how much she was liking the parade which if this is any indicator is not really at all.

Those fire trucks were really loud and I had to get a picture of their reactions. Liam's was too good to pass up.

After listening to the band concert in the park and then looking around at the booths for a bit we decided to head up to the wing ding with the Gowan's family. I look forward to this every year, it is one of the rare times my mom's side of the family gets together and it's nice to see everyone. Thus ended our labor day celebrations and we had to face the reality of school and work the next day after a weekend of too much playing.

Changes Coming

Being 28 weeks these days it's time to start getting prepared for this new little one to come. The first big step is getting Liam out of the crib and into a big boy bed. This last weekend we finally went and picked up the bed which meant we had plenty of boxes to play with. It's funny how of all the toys we have the coolest thing they have ever played with is a box.

Waiting for the School Bus

These days we have been spending a lot of time at the park since that is where the bus drops Addie off everyday. The first day since the bus was so much later we had even more time to play. Demzi and Liam were loving it, they were getting a little bored without Addie around.
My kids love to come peek through these holes and yell for me to come see. Demzi likes that she is tall enough to see through the top part now.

Liam squishes his nose up and yells, "hello!"

Demzi was making me laugh. She wanted me to watch her and I'd tell her she was a monkey for swinging on the bars but the second she put her feet down she'd say, "Oh now I'm just Demzi."

Now the routine is we have to pack a picnic when we go to the park so that Addie can eat her lunch and play for a few minutes. It's been so nice outside lately, not getting too hot, that it is the perfect excuse to get out for a walk and play for a bit.

First Days of School

Addie has been asking when she could ride a school bus and go to kindergarten since she was three so it was a pretty exciting day at our house when she could finally go. I was more nervous than she actually was. I wanted to take her to school the first day and make sure she found her class alright but she was having none of that.

The problem was, Demzi was just as excited as Addie. I thought we'd finally convinced her she wasn't going to ride a bus this year when we decided to do a little joy school with some of our neighbors but that morning as I was getting Addie ready Demzi started crying, "I'm big enough to go with Addie!" It was kind of a traumatic morning but now that she is doing preschool she is happy.

All three of them, Liam needed to get in on the action even though he had no idea why they were standing there smiling.

At the bus stop with Zoe, even at the bus stop I was thinking that I would follow the bus in my car and make sure she was good but this girl got on the bus and didn't even look back. It helps that Chase and Aspen were there to make sure that the girls found their classes.

The first day turned out to be a little overwhelming for Addie. Mainly the bus ride home as she realized she didn't recognize all the stops and wasn't sure when, if ever, she was going to get home. The principal was on the bus to make sure they didn't lose any kindergarteners which made the bus ride longer than usual. Ever since then she has gotten off just excited and she loves going to school which is all I could hope for, I just want her to like learning. And Demzi has finally started her preschool and feels so grown up that she gets to go too.
