If we needed any more proof of his OCD, every time I sunscreen him to go outside he says, "don't get my shirt!" I end up lying to him and telling him I didn't get any on there. I figure with the spray kind there is always a little that gets everywhere but if he knew that he'd be upstairs changing his clothes. What he doesn't know won't hurt him....

OCD Tad
Today is a pick your battles kind of day. Tad has worn these clothes for the last five days. He gets in pajamas every night but always puts them back on first thing. Today, I picked that battle. He came out all dressed and I said, "should we wash those today and wear something different?" He turned around, walked back in his room, and didn't say anything. He came out twenty minutes later dressed in new clothes and crying. Went back in, tried on a new outfit, came out crying. Two hours later, after trying on every outfit in his drawer and crying about needing wing pants I said, "do you just want to wear your monkey shirt?" He was so excited! He ran upstairs, came down dressed and with a smile on his face. I can pick that battle again tomorrow on a day he isn't so sleep deprived. Besides, he is OCD. If he could see any dirty spots he would be up there changing as fast as he could.
Salem Spring Triathlon
The day after school got out Kris took part in a triathlon. It was a sprint so it was, half mile swim, twelve mile bike, and three mile run. He has really been working hard. It was fun to be able to go watch him. We showed up bright and early and let the kids eat breakfast at the park while we waited for it to start.
He did so great! It was fun for me to watch and see the results of all that training. He was able to keep his expected pace the whole way through finishing at I think an hour and twenty six minutes. I am really so impressed, it makes me want to work hard so maybe we can do one together some day.

End of Year Party
I was so done with school this year. I think that I was more antsy than my kids for it to just be done. I was so excited to be able to take things a little easier for a bit. Our block has planned an end of year/summer kick off party the last few years. My kids look forward to this every year.We usually keep it pretty simple. We grab some pizza for lunch and then let the kids run and play.
Harvey and I hung out under the canopy for the most part.
We hadn't really planned on any water activities this year because up until the night before our water restrictions were listed as red, no water for recreational use. Instead we had bikes, roller blades, four square, hopscotch, jump rope and told them they could play anything else they could come up with.
Kendamas are pretty popular these days which is funny because Kris has quite the collection from his mission. He had a little Kendama club going on the porch.
We ended up bringing out some balloons, the kids mostly tried to use them as water balloons. Kris was playing with Harvey. He thought it was tons of fun all blown up but at one point Kris let all the air out and it terrified him.
It was such a fun way to start our summer break. The kids got to play with their friends while the adults could hang out and chat.
Dance Festival
I love the end of year dance festival. Addie usually is pretty excited and likes to show me what they have been practicing days after school leading up to it. We lucked out this year that Kris had a day off and was able to come.
I never know what time I have to get there to get a spot where I can actually see everyone. We got there about thirty minutes early and had a pretty good view. While we were waiting for it to start Harvey was dancing to the music while he sat in his stroller.
Addie had told me she was going to be the front row, about in the middle. It lucked out we had a pretty good view. She was able to find us pretty quick. This year all the music was from Disney movies. Addie danced to Life is a Highway.
Demzi's teacher had sent an email telling us roughly where the kids would be. Unfortunately her class was on the back row so it was kind of hard to get a clear view. She was also pretty excited when she saw us.
Demzi danced to Kids of the Future from Meet the Robinsons. She never looks entirely convinced that she loves being out there. Really it is more the being in front of people, she likes dancing but doesn't love to have people watching her.
Then it was the teachers turn. The kids loved to watch all their teachers get out there and dance. This is the kids principal. We were at a new school this year but the kids have really liked him.
The teachers danced to a song from Wreck it Ralph. This is Demzi's teacher Ms. Adams.
Addie's teacher was Ms Sandberg.

Random May Pictures
My kids love having the field behind our house. They told me the other day that they were going to build a clubhouse. I went out and they had built this little teepee. Our neighbor had recently pulled some grass out to put in a patio so there was even some sod back there for them to line it with.
I've been taking Tad and Liam to a dermatologist so they can get their mollescum bumps treated. It will eventually go away on it's own but Tad has had them for two years and they had started to spread so we figured we might as well get them taken care of. Sometimes I have to be creative to prevent them from running crazy in the waiting room. This time I gave them my phone and told them to take pictures of their silly faces.Since I was just driving down the street I strapped Harvey in the forward facing car seat. He was not amused, he seemed to think if he could see me I should just unbuckle him and get him out.
Tad needed to hold his shirt like this, so it wouldn't bother him.
Then it was just easier to wear it like this. Something about his shirt touching his pants drove him crazy that day.
From the back of the car I hear, "why is this in my ear? Can I eat it?" I assumed that Tad had just pulled out some earwax and told him no he couldn't eat it. Then he said, "that is right, it is an ear rock. Or and ear wack?" Turns out it was his tube. I guess it finally fell out. They told me at his last check up they were in the ear canal and so could fall out anytime. I just assumed they were long gone. I never thought he'd notice it.
Tad was being silly going to bed and wanted to show me how he could jump from a tote on his floor to his bed. After showing me a couple of times he slipped while jumping and fell forward hitting his head right on the bed post. He had an instantaneous bump and had a hard time falling asleep after that.
