What I Wore Wednesday.

I've linked up with The Pleated Poppy for "What I Wore Wednesday."

Lately I've been on a high heels kick. I'm one of those weird women who actually likes high heels. I'm not quite 5'4" on my own, so I like that they give me a little height. I also like how they make me stand taller and walk with a little more purpose. Plus, they just make me feel sassy. I remember there was this guy who worked with my dad and his wife wore high heels everywhere and with everything. When I was a kid, I thought that was so funny... I don't know why. But I thought about her this week as I tromped through the grocery store in jeans and high heels. I hope she's happy wherever she is and that she still wears fabulous shoes everyday. :)

Friends.

We had the weekly "playgroup" at our house this week. Sonnet had fun sharing her toys with her buddies, playing dress up, eating snacks, painting, and chasing Blaze around and around and around the yard. Kids crack me up.

Cute Boys.

Yesterday I got to hang out with this handsome little guy. Adorable, no? His name is Tristan and technically he's my first cousin once removed, but I just pretend like I'm his aunt. I want a latin baby. That dark hair just melts me.

And his brother Baron is quite the looker as well. Sonnet and these cute boys are second cousins and they have tons of fun together. Hanging out with them almost makes me want to have another one... almost.

A Little Peanut.

Jenae and I met when we were 10, so we've been friends for a long time. I love having such an "old" friend. We've grown up together, and even though we haven't lived near each other for years, we work hard to maintain our friendship and to connect as often as we can.

My buddy and her cute husband are due to have their first baby- a boy- in a month! I'm so excited for them! They are such fun, lively, kind people... I know they will be great parents and they have waited a long time for this little guy.

Today was her baby shower. We went with an elephant theme because that's what she's using in her nursery and well, it's just way easier to plan a party with a theme.

We had the party at my mom's town home in Boulder City. We decorated with lots of blue, and well, lots of elephants. :)

Cute stuffed elephants and jars full of peanuts, nutter butters, and animal crackers. :)

Jenae's aunt is a professional cake maker and she brought this cute (and yummy) cake with little elephants on it. Love.

We ate sandwiches, fruit tarts, a fabulous chicken pasta salad, and hot artichoke dip. As a favor, each guest got to take a bag of "little peanuts" home. haha. :)

We raffled off three really cute prizes for those who brought a pack of diapers. We also had everyone guess how many almond joys were in the jar. The lady who guessed the closest to the actual number got to take the jar home. And we had everyone write "advice" or a love note to the mom-to-be and I love what everyone had to say.

We had 32 people show up! We just ate and visited and opened presents. It was nice to have everyone there to support Jenae and I think it was a really fun party. :)
Some pics of the guests...

Sonnet's so excited to see Jenae's baby. She always asks Jenae how the baby got in her belly. Since we don't feel like having that conversation yet, Sonnet decided that Jenae must have "ate it." That's gross, but it's a logical explanation and it kinda makes me laugh. Since Sonnet knows that the baby is going to come out sometime around Valentine's Day, she wants to buy him everything "valentine-y" that she sees. Yesterday I had to talk her out of a pair of mens boxer shorts with red hearts on them. I told her they were too big for the baby and that the baby just wants to wear diapers. That seemed to satisfy her. :) Kids crack me up.

Anyways, we're all excited for Jenae! It was a fun party today. Thank you to everyone who came who helped make it a success. We can't wait to meet the little guy!
