First Day of School: 3rd and 5th

"We can't wait to see our friends!"  "We are so excited!"

Both girls were looking forward to getting this First Day of School underway!  I'm so glad they love school.  I'm so proud of them.

The standard cookie snack to celebrate the end of the first day!  Way to go girls!

Summer Olympics

We enjoyed watching the Olympics from August 5th - 21st.  It was exciting to see the gymnastics girls win the gold.  The TV was on around the clock and the girls saw the whole variety of events.  Team USA was the top of the leader board with 121 total medals!

Rough Riders Game

Tonight was a Krodle Memorial Foundation benefit night at the Rough Riders baseball game.  It was also Star Wars night so there were a lot of characters roaming around!  The weather was 80 degrees and mild.  The girls loved the all you can eat hot dogs, chips, peanuts and drinks.

We saw our friends there and Krodle family members.

By the Skin of our Peach

We barely made it to Ham's Orchard by the skin of our peach!  Today was the last day they were open for the season.  Somehow the summer got away from us and we hadn't yet made our annual trip!  The lines were long, but we enjoyed the ice cream and brought a bag of juicy, sweet peaches home!

Nanny

Nanny came to visit today and we enjoyed catching up with her!

Maisy

Did you notice that we visited the animal shelter last week to donate dog food?  Of course we had to take a stroll through the dog enclosures and wouldn't you know, we came to an 8 year old rat terrier mix.  Her name was Tinder, she was in a cage with another dog, but she was just sitting calm, just looking around.  I paused there for quite awhile just observing her.  The worker said we were welcome to meet her in the playroom.  We did just that and had an instant connection to her.  I took a picture so we could send it to Daddy.

Tim was in a training until the next day, but we felt like he just had to meet this dog because the girls and I seriously couldn't stop thinking about her and realizing she could be the next family dog for us after our sweet Jack passed at Christmas.

Tim made it home from his training just before the shelter closed and he met her and they fell in love with each other pretty quickly!  We are happy to announce that she has been adopted into our family and her name is.....

Maisy!

The next morning we took her for her first walk and there was a rainbow.  Do you see it above her head?

We had a few concerns because she was not eating for almost 3 days and she had a heaving cough and a wet breathing sound when she slept.  So, we took her to the vet and after just one round of medication, she became entirely anew.  Way more energy, she began eating, and very playful and affectionate!

We knew that we wanted to rescue a dog from the shelter. Our timetable was going to be for the fall, but how can the undeniable pull of this sweet girl be ignored?  It was meant to be and Maisy has already given us so much joy!  We are honored to be her fur-ever home and we promise to take the best care of her!

Paw Paw

This past month we received news of the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma in Ron's (Paw Paw) right lymph node in his neck.  He and Maw have gone to countless doctor's appointments and he has undergone scans and biopsies.  There is no evidence of abnormalities anywhere else in his body, so after careful consideration and prayer, he has decided to have surgery to remove it.  The surgery will be Monday.  His surgeon is top notch and the odds for a full cure/treatment is almost 100%.  Of course, everything is day by day right now and I ask if you could pray: for God to use the surgeon's hands and guide the surgeon with the precision and skill needed and for Ron's strength throughout surgery and recovery.  Thank you prayer warriors!

We went out for a family dinner Sunday evening.  Paw Paw is loved and has all of our prayers and support!
