Last Day of School

Tick tock, we finally made it to the last day of school!
I gifted them with water guns, crazy string and candy!

They wasted no time having a water gun fight!

We also visited our new pool for the first time!  No complaints from my fish!

Lana was invited to a party at one of her friends house, so Lydia and I treated ourselves to a celebratory dinner out!

Welcome summer!  We love you!

Tornado

After Lydia's award ceremony, we checked her out for the day.  And Lana was released at 12:00 because of exams.  That proved to be a very GOOD thing, because around 3:00 an EF-0 tornado loomed over Rockwall within only a mile or two of us.

There was only minor damage at the baseball field.  Thank goodness it wasn't any worse!  But what a weather event for this afternoon!

Awards Day

For Lydia's awards day the ceremony was held in her classroom. As each student came to the front, they shared their answers to three questions.  These are Lydia's:
1. What was your favorite thing about 5th grade?
"Going to Camp Grady Spruce"

2.  What will you always remember?
"Being in the talent show with my friends"

3.  What did you learn?
"Girls cause drama"

The awards she received were:
"A" Honor Roll
Citizenship Award
Perfect Attendance
Master Math Whiz

Mrs. Kissane was an excellent homeroom teacher.  We are so grateful for Lydia's seamless transition into a new school for the second semester.  She is happier than ever with new friends and a positive, encouraging school environment.

We are proud of you Lydia!

Field Day

Today was Lydia's field day.  She went through the morning rotation of Newcomb, Photo Booth, Egg Spoon Relay, Pass the Water, Sponge Relay, Drip Drip Splash, Jackpot, Three Legged Relay, and Canz.

Then I brought her lunch and planned on staying for her afternoon rotation.
But, she decided she had enough fun (and heat!) for one day, so we came home after she ate.  This is the first time I don't have action shots of field day!  I'm just glad she had a good time.  It was a great way to kick off the long weekend!

Talent Show

Lydia performed in her school talent show with a group of her friends.  They did a dance to a mix of popular songs.  It was great!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful, kind and treasured mom!!  I love you so very much!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers in our family and my friends.  You do so much for your families and I hope you know how appreciated you are!

Happy Mother's Day to me!
The gift of my two precious daughters makes motherhood my greatest privilege in life.

Breakfast was delivered in bed.

We went to brunch and brought Maisy with us on the patio (not pictured).

It was one of the best Mother's Day.  I think I say that every year!!

Carry the Load: West Coast Relay

Tim was honored to accept an invitation to participate in the Carry the Load West Coast Relay.  As you know, Carry the Load has their ending point in Dallas on Memorial Day weekend, but before that they start on the West Coast, East Coast and Midwest.  Participants walk 20 miles a day, stop at meaningful places along the way (National Cemetaries, fire stations, etc), present Tribute to the Fallen plaques, and honor and remember our fallen military and first responders.

Tim started in San Jose, CA.  Over the course of the seven days he walked in California, he travelled through Watsonville, Marina, Monterrey, Pacific Grove, Salinas, Clovis, Fresno, Bakersfield, Santa Maria, Goleta, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Carson, Long Beach, La Jolla, San Diego, Mountain Center, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Riverside, and Moreno Valley.  He ended in Las Vegas.

They held ceremonies in four National Cemetaries: Los Angeles, Miramar, Fort Rosencrans and Riverside.

Tim escorted Marc Lee's mother for her to place these flowers.  Tim was humbled and honored.  Marc Lee is one of Tim's heroes, he was the first Navy Seal to lose his life in Iraq.

It was a powerful experience for him and he's so grateful for the opportunity.

A Musical Night

Lana had her last orchestra concert tonight...

...and it happened to coincide with the school dance. So as soon as the concert was over, she transitioned from violinist to dancing queen!
