■ #1187. etymological respelling の具体例 [etymological_respelling][spelling][spelling_pronunciation_gap]

　語源かぶれの綴字の話題については，[2009-08-21-1]の記事「#116. 語源かぶれの綴り字 --- etymological respelling」をはじめとして，etymological_respelling の各記事で取り上げてきた．今回は，Upward and Davidson (190--92) を参照して，語源かぶれによる変化の前後の綴字を提示しながら，いくつか具体例を挙げる．示した時代は大雑把であり，数々の異綴字も省略してあるので，参考までに．英語で復活あるいは置換された文字は強調してある．

　・ scythe < ME scythe < OE siðe (confused with Lat scindere "to cut")
