■ #3772. Wittgenstein の「言語ゲーム」 (2) [function_of_language][language-game][context][speech_act][pragmatics][semantics][terminology][philosophy_of_language]

　昨日の記事 ([2019-08-24-1]) で Wittgenstein の言語ゲーム (Sprachspiel, language-game) に触れた．Bussmann (262) の用語辞典の定義によると次の通り．

language game
L. Wittgenstein's term referring to complex units of communication that consist of linguistic and non-linguistic activities (e.g. the giving of and complying with commands in the course of collaborating on the building of a house). Signs, words, and sentences as 'tools of language' have in and of themselves no meaning; rather meaning is derived only from the use of these items in particular contexts of language behavior.

　論理実証主義 (logical positivism) から転向した後の Wittgenstein の，このような コンテクスト重視の言語観や意味観は，後の日常言語哲学 (ordinary language philosophy) に大きな影響を与え，発話行為 (speech_act) を含めた語用論 (pragmatics) の発展にも貢献した．"the meaning of a word is its use in the language" という意味のとらえ方は，なお問題があるものの，1つの見解とみなされている．
　意味の意味に関連して「#1782. 意味の意味」 ([2014-03-14-1])，「#1990. 様々な種類の意味」 ([2014-10-08-1])，「#2199. Bloomfield にとっての意味の意味」 ([2015-05-05-1])，「#2794. 「意味＝定義」説の問題点」 ([2016-12-20-1])，「#2795. 「意味＝指示対象」説の問題点」 ([2016-12-21-1]) などの内容とも比較されたい．
