■ #2750. "Present Perfect Puzzle" --- 中英語からの過去形と現在完了形の並列の例 [perfect][preterite][aspect][tense][adverb][present_perfect_puzzle][me][french][prosody][poetic_license]

　「#2492. 過去を表わす副詞と完了形の（不）共起の歴史 」 ([2016-02-22-1])，「#2633. なぜ現在完了形は過去を表わす副詞と共起できないのか --- Present Perfect Puzzle」 ([2016-07-12-1])，及び昨日の記事「#2749. "Present Perfect Puzzle" --- 近現代英語からの「違反」例」 ([2016-11-05-1]) に引き続き，"Present Perfect Puzzle" について．中英語には，このパズルと関連する事例として，過去形と現在完了形の動詞が統語的あるいは文脈的に並列・共起して現われるケースが散見される．両者の間に際立った機能的な区別は感じられないことから，いまだ現代英語のような明確な区別はなかったことを示す例と解釈できる．Visser (2198) から，いくつか例を挙げよう．

　・ c1386 Chaucer, C. T. E 1956, Adoun by olde Januarie she lay, That sleep til that the coughe hath hym awaked.
　・ c1386 Chaucer, C. T. F 1082, His brother . . . Up caughte hym, and to bedde hath hym broght.
　・ c1386 Chaucer, C. T. E 2132, er that dayes eighte Were passed . . . Januarie hath caught so greet a wille . . . hym for to pleye In his gardyn . . . That . . . unto this May seith he: Rys up, my wif!
　・ c1390 Gower, Conf. Am. (Morley) II p. 107, And whan it came into the night, This wife with her hath to bedde dight Where that this maiden with her lay.
　・ c1430 Syr Tryamowre (ed. Erdman Schmidt) 830, [he] bare hym downe of hys hors, And hath hym hurted sare.

　これらは，"epic (present) perfect" という事例とも解することができるし，韻律の要請による詩的許容 (poetic_license) も関与しているかもしれない．Visser (2198) は，フランス語にも同様の揺れが見られることから，その影響の可能性もありそうだと述べている．

It is not difficult to concur with 1960 Mustanoja and 1970 Bauer in assuming French influence as very likely. (As a matter of fact Modern colloquial French often prefers the type 'Je l'ai vu tomber' to that with the 'passé défini': 'Je le vis tomber.)'
